R u gone insane dude? He is undoubtly the biggest ever film star of all Indian film industry, leave ahead Hindi! In south they say it is Rajni, who failed before Amitabh in Giraftar and Andha Kanoon, and started career in mid of 1980's while Amitabh has already traversed almost 20 years by that time!!!
You can't imagine any one near him at all....in entire 1970s and 80's the kind of stardom Amitabh enjoyed ..none can imagine even for coming generations.....there are few god gifted people in every field like Lata in singing, Sachin in cricket, Gurudutt in Movie making, Kalam in politico scientist, Mother Teresa in nursing, Gandhi as leader, and Amitabh as actor...who become God of their respective fields for their impeccable level of work. You can't find any other match for such people as the respective field's first cover opens with their names!
I feel there are no true superstars today, today it is all about marketing and hype. I do not think there is any star today who has pan-indian appeal. Can you name anyone today?? SRK? he is just a multiplex star who has no appeal in rural centres. Today money is generated from mulitplexes and this shows that the movie is an all-india hit. which is totally not true. Amitabh Bachcan was the LAST star who had all-india appeal. The only other star will be crickter sachin tendulkar. Other stars such as the Khans, Kumars and Roshans are just media made stars who will be forgotten in a few years.

we can understand vasudevan not appreciating AB coz basically, vasu is a L_U_N_G_I and they have created their own country down south with bullet-catching K-A-L-L-U rajnikhunt; but can't understand why k_e_m_c_h_o bhai kalpesh shah is hating him!!!
