he was only 33 when he made zanjeer!! he does not get as much credit as other people from the 70s era, but he has made some very very good movies. I like MkaS best!
To start with - the scene with AB and Rekha is not from Mukku Ka Sukku. Its from SUHAAG. Prakash Mehra did not belong to the classical genre of Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Basu Chatterjee, Gulzaar. Neither did he belong to the large scale movie makers like Ramesh Sippy, Feroz Khan. But he created his niche position in bollywood through hugely successful blockbusters. His story telling was almost as simple as Manmohan Desai, but even more flat. Though he might not be considered as one of the greats with lots of cinematic vision, he would remain as one who made mainstream successful money-spinners. But his Zanjeer was surely an exceptional movie - a movie with a theme quite unknown to audience then - a movie with no song for the hero - a movie with a realistic dream sequence - a movie with the heroine in an unconventional profession - a movie with Hollywood-crisp dialogue. Kudos to a master who contributed to the creation of the Angry Young Man !!

Yesssss, he attended PM's funeral with AB Jr. And for your information, AB Sr. was the first person to tell the world that PM is there in hospital. Even media doesn't took care to flash the news of his hospitalization.
