I dont understand u.... they are the poor people who dont have money and so they do that at public places......I ashame of you. Instead of condemning the act, u are supporting Akshay?
Re: Re: What about those who shits near railway track...?

What Akshay did need not be right, but what does this man get out of it, other than mere publicity.
If he is indeed a social worker, can't he do something for those people who have to shit beside the railway tracks, or countless such good causes. But, no..this guy has to go behind Akshay, to get lots of publicity.
Thereby giving more publicity to the unbuttoning incident.
Ironically, his actions are supporting the thing which Akshay did

what the heck they won't even mind if they are given an opportunity to strip in front of national television.
A few days ago the GULF NEWS ( a daily paper in Dubai) published articles written by Indians in which they complained about the dressing of the cheer leaders in in IPL.These are the people who make it a point to watch these girls every day yet they say its obscenity!!!!!!!they have a choice watch the cricket and the frills that go with it or dont watch if u are offended when will these people lean that its not the stone age not to forget that in SA people care a damn about how women dress absoultely pathetic!!!!!
What is this ?...18th century ??... are you guys out of your mind ?. Its not the fault of the Indian Judicial System....its the 1 or 2 PEOPLE who bring up such issues to the court. Those people should be grabbed by their collar and asked "WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM ?".....arey kya problem hai yaar ?...mujhe kuch samaj mein nahi aa rahaa ? The world is advancing every minute trying to research the presence of extra-terrestrial life in a different planet....and here in India - "Twinkle unbuttons her Husband's Pants, and hence the couple is jailed" - awesome...India will never improve for atleast another 50 years. India has an extremely poor Road Traffic system, unpardonable caste system, inexcusable political corruption - Mr.Anil Nair please file cases against these issues, instead of wasting your time.

Friends, I can understand your sentiments. Also may be the intension of "Anil Nair" was not good. But we are not required to follow atleast in terms of dressing and getting naked (or trying to do any vulgar act) for the rest of world. There should be some code of conduct and we have some culture, which is followed by all the world sooner or later, many examples you would already be knowing.
however this act was not a that shameful but it leads to the change of mind for younger generations. There are many other good things which we should be giving to our younger generations...

for god's sake, it was a FASHION SHOW...wat else do u expect ?. we are giving things where we need to give. but this is a fashion show, where freedom of style, action and expression is allowed.
Re: Re: Re: India still in 18th century.

In a fashion show u dont expect two ppl to do things which r meant to be done in bedrooms!!!!

by farhad on May 18, 2009 03:57 PM
wat you mean. where did akshay flash his willy. the tagline is called unbutton, why is it ok for a model to unbutton and not his wife. plus it was scripted by the producers of that brand.
Re: Re: India still in 18th century.
by farhad on May 18, 2009 03:55 PM
kids are not meant to be watching late night fashion show, if they are then you should blame the parents not akshay.

I totally agree with you, Anil Nair is only looking for cheap publicity and if his intentions were honourable he would have diverted his attention to more burning issues which need urgent remedies.Wake up Mr. Anil !
Re: Re: India still in 18th century.
by Rudran on May 18, 2009 12:51 PM
I seriously hope the government goes through all our comments on the bottom of this page, and realizes its time to grant lenience in the judicial system, so that people like Anil Nair wouldn't even find any reason to file a case in the first place.

its d 21st century n not d 18th century. so Mr. Rudran wi dont u n ur parivaar move around wid aaut clothes in the market. Its modernity right!!!!

So by the end of this century should we expect girls and boys doing it like dogs on the roads. What progress!!!
Re: Re: Re: India still in 18th century.

its because the term 'sex' is considered a taboo in India, that trivial issues like this are blown up. Sex is such a pure, essential, natural and a vital part of human life. If you realize this very fact, its enough.
Re: India still in 18th century.
by Moinuddin Khan on May 18, 2009 12:58 PM
Very Well said Rudran. We Indians instead of looking and correcting the issues you have mentioned above, go on creating issues of senseless things like this and ultimately end up going no where.
Re: India still in 18th century.
by ss sk on May 18, 2009 12:37 PM
GOOD ONE AND SENSIBLE.. Yesss... Nair should filed cases against the problems u have mentioned.. I think Nair must come for out-of-court settlement with AKSHAY as it seems his only intention.

It was extremely indecent act by akshay n his wife...especially in INDIA....this news will hav a bad effect on children among so many other things....It took atleast one Mr.Anil nair to take the issue with the court...if he is wasting his time neglecting other important things as said by many people,i welcome them to file case against those issue themselves which is needed than simply bluffing n wasting their time...people like u required!!!!!!

You said the truth but do not talk something bad about father of our fathers and mother of our mothers.....It will be better for you if you do not utter anything against adam and eve or else GOD will wrath you!
Im an Indian studying in US. It just surprises me that none of our websites have anything resembling a dialogue/discussion in the comments section. Its mostly jingoistic people who are either taking a pro/against stance without any qualifying reasons or people lamenting how absolutely ridiculous the very country and its systems are. So much so for being a community oriented society!!!
As for the issue, i think defining obscenity is a tricky issue. If you are taliban, women not covering their face is obscenity. Whos obscenity should we use for defining our laws? Moreover the supporters of ram sena and the like, i hope you realize that there isnt too much difference betweentaliban's coercive functioning and ram sena's way of beating people up. I would rather tolerate obscenity than have my country in danger of being talibanized by these slogan shouting people.

Puneet, I too have wondered about the lack of rational thought and discussion particularly on the rediff boards. It's either because the average Indian joe does not really have a strong and informed opinion about issues that he does not have a first person experience in.
Or that the average indian joe is not yet comfortable voicing such opinions on an internet forum leaving only extremists and rabid right-wingers to use it as a sh!tyard.
Not long ago I thought our country was going to the dogs if what we see on these boards is representative of the populace. But the election results have changed my thinking!
Re: Re: Mindless
by Moinuddin Khan on May 18, 2009 12:55 PM
Exactly Semiya. Being from minority sometimes i used to get scared looking at the amount of hatred people have towards the minorty community. But now after the elections I have realized that this discussion board can no way be the voice of India and the opinions voiced here just amounts to a drop in a ocean. From now on I am never going to be bothered about the comments posted here:)

Dear Mr Puneet and semiya,i do agree most of our discussion ends in infighting among us indians in the name of religion, caste and creed.

Puneet, Its very rare to see decent stuff here on this board. Its become the hangout of cheap,good-for-nothing surfers. But its heartening to see that whats written here does not represent the real India. The world (and India) still survives and runs because of the decent people. They may not be that vocal ;but they are still an overwhelming majority.
