You did not expect Sharmila to wear some pants or Jeans. For her age she looks graceful in a sari and that was appropriate. Now as for Aish and even Sonam they have to wear something western as they represent the brand L'Oreal and the western media is looking for stars wearing western dresses. That is what the North American media will be showcasing not saris. They are not walking a red carpet in Mumbai. And they are not walking a red carpet in NY for a hindi film premiere. Why do you think Freida Pinto hit it off with the photographers when she was walking at several functions in the U.S and U.K for SlumDog Millionaire ? Did you see her in a sari ? Nothing is wrong with saris. But Cannes and even Oscars Red Carpet walk is not the appropriate place for it. Notice most stars at Cannes do not show up in their ethnic attire. Anyways let us see. Aish may surprise this time and show up in a sari. Although I prefer not.
