prepare to see regional movies and indie(independent) movies like US!!!
the traditional way of making films will die after this strike and professional servies to manage film-production will emerge-financed by multiplexes

why multillex
by Anitha on May 06, 2009 01:07 PM  | Hide replies

I used to see 4 movies in a month with 3 of us spending 2400 per month. Now I have got a 40" TV and pay a EMI of 1800 and now get movies from Libraries or buy the Good movies personally. People should look at this and kill the multiplex concept. These guys mint money for nothing. Also most of the movies now a days are not worth a 200 Rupees ticket. In fact the producers should tie up with a Good hight end TV manufacturer and promote this with some Free DVD's and also start a good way of distributing new DVDS at affordable prices....

Classic reply. 1800 per month on a 40" TV instead of 2400 per month gone down the drain. Wonderful. And yes, pirated DVDs wont spoil the TV at all

This rotten person Bhatt wants a good share of money for himself and other directors from Multiplex and the reason he gives is "deprived audiences of films". If any of the film is not going well in Multiplex will these producers share the loss as well of maintainence and electricity cost(if there are just 20-30 peoples in each show)???

If they want profit then why not share the loss?

They are. Per seat cost in a multiplex is just Rs 13. There is no need to charge Rs. 200 and above for a ticket. Multiplex owners are just greedy. Producers are right. Nowadays they get 65% collections in first week itself. So no harm in producers asking for that share

After all multiplex owners lose nothing if the movie is a flop. There would just be no shows, 2nd week onwards. However, the producer loses everything.

Unfortunately Fencesitter.. u r really oblivion to the expenses that run a multiplex. for starters multiplex owners have invested crores of rupees in infrastructure so that patrons enjoy a state of the art movie experience. then they are burdened with 41% entertainment tax. trained manpower, hygenic enviornment, best quality eatables and overheads like maintenance, running costs for aircon, projectors.. the list of expenses is unlimited. so if you are ignorant, do not make silly comments like rs 13. Do you even know what is the per unit cost of commercial electricity?

Girish you seem to be talking on behalf of multiplex owners.... TRue there are expenses but does that justify a Rs. 225 ticket Importantly how do you price a bg of popcorn for Rs.85..... thus popcorn worth Rs. 20 (including profits ) and Rs. 65 for infrastrucure??? BULL****!!!!.

the fact is that multiplex owners agreed to the condition only if the movie is a hit, but as it is a fact , WHEN WILL MAHESH BHATT EVER HAVE HIT MOVIE&(*&(*%< No wonder as the leader he is still continuing the strike

Good show by producers..
by Manoja on May 06, 2009 11:35 AM  | Hide replies

For once, I am glad that producers are taking the kind of stance they are taking now.

The multiplexes were exorbitantly priced and to add to the grouse, these places never allowed the patrons to get even a bottle of water inside. And the rates at food courts were simple day light robbery where a glass of coke or pepsi cost 50 bucks!!!

Come back Single Screens.. we survived with you for such long period of time, we can still watch movies in you!!

but ppl wil still go to multiplexes after strike is over and the only difference will be that the money paid by you will be shared by both multiplexes and producers... so you an dI stand to gain nothing but instead they may increase the prices a bit more

the producers logic make sense for hit movies, but for sh**ty movies giving 50 percent away is just bad business... the reason why people come to multiplex is for movie something else. if movie is bad then the someelse part is the only reason for people to come. So the profit from that should not be given to producers.

produce sucks
by rb on May 05, 2009 08:38 PM  | Hide replies

this problem is created by producers, nobody else.
it just simple, if the movie is hit, producer get more cut, but if flops, they have to suffer.
