i think you're being generous by giving it two stars. it's one of those time waste, brainless flicks that deserve no stars. i cant believe that zinta agreed to act in it? i know leading actors- male and female- want to do meaningful cinema, but they must know that meaningful doesnt mean meaningless meandrings of no story, no acting, and a dragging screenplay! what was she thinking? boring doesnt mean meaningful? as for the director- her only achivement was to convince folks to put money into producing such crap.

will some director ever dare to show the atrocities committed on men's relatives in the name of women protection and dowry laws whereby the women, the state and the lawyers are equally responsible for the debacle???

Yes... seriusly... I am sick and tired of this woman being a victim films.
I cannot imagine seeing Preity Zinta kind of rebellius women, in such roles... where they act submissive. Its irritating.
We need cinema in which women are shown with guts, with an independent means of living, and stop clinging on to men... and dream of happy marriages. For heavens sake... where is the practical modern Indian woman???
and as krishna said, there are scores of men who are abused by their wives due to dowry and all that... we can have afilm in which a man is struggling to balance between his old and outdated traditional mom, and his modern wife... and who strives to understand the changes women have undergone in these years... and transforming...
or a doting husband getting abused by wife, and demanding divorce, hcild support at the drop of a hat..
MOREVOER, I DON'T CONSIDER EDUCATED FORTHRIGHT WOMEN WHO DEMAND "CHILD SUPPORT" FROM THEIR HUSBAND.. NO SELF RESPECTING WOMAN WOULD WANT TO DISGRACEFULLY EXIT HER MARRIAGE, AND LIVE OUT OF HER HUSBANDS MONEY WHEN SHE DOES NOT LIKE LIVING WITH HIM!

do u really believe women can ever be absolutely independent and know how to be practical all the time - yes, women need to show guts, but being modern isnt being unreal...a lot of times not just women, people become helpless, that is not to say that they dont make an effort. and trust me, there's no guarantee that rebellion leads to liberation!

Have you seen 1947 - Earth. The villain is Amir Khan in the role of a muslim. get real and get a life.
Deepa Mehta is a mediocre filmaker who has survived only because of media hype. Her films are very superficial and pretentious with a strong desire to ridicule India's traditional values. In India any movie sells, as long as you have the media on your side.
