Success has no terminals!
by Ramesh Kapoor on Mar 09, 2009 08:33 PM  | Hide replies

In these days of recession and depression (sic), there is always one more to succeed; and this is part of life. If SDM has exceeded $200 millions in its take, it is because of the various festivals before the awards started rolling in. The rest Jai Ho. As for Watchmen, who can deny it success, if it has all the masalas that make a great movie.

I don't think "Watchman" is such a great movie. That's what I think. Everyone thinks diff. By now everyone has seen SDM & they want to see New movie. No movie can stay on TOP for long time. Moment new comes out top one starts to SLIP. IS THIS HARD TO DIGEST. U DON'T HAFA TO BE ROCKET SCIENCETIST TO KNOW THIS.

LAW OF NATURE: ANYTHING GOES UP MUST COME DOWN. SO WHAT IS SDM OR ANY OTHER MOVIES. NOTHING STAYS ON TOP FOREVER.

If anybody do not like Slumdog, they are hypocrites....
by Arun Sambandan on Mar 09, 2009 04:20 PM  | Hide replies

If anybody do not like Slumdog, they are hypocrites and selfish guys and they put their self interest above the nation, like politicians and liers who indirectly benefit from those same filthy slums and shady characters shown in the movie. If you are truly human and would love the nation and wish this cruelty and filthy slums should not exist, they should actually wake up and see how this kind of things can be eliminated. Is it not true that children beg in the road and haven't you seen blind children or child with a baby knocking your car windows for money. Is it not that children of slums have been exploited by filthy pigs like that guys and pimps shown in the film. What is not there in Mumbai or Chennai or Kolkatta the film showed. Movie is to make it dramatic if you do not have a stomach for it to accept and wish to eliminate what is shown, that means you like the situation to continue as such and you benefit from it. I think most of the politician and politically motivated individual only object to this film. Let Danny Boyle get Oscar, are you the one who is giving it, why are you worrying about it. What all those most idiot actors in India are doing is to copy and paste the Hollywood for their local audience and make the money by arbitrage and pilferage. I am seeing so many bollywood song picturtisation that are just copycats of what american pop stars are doing so routinely, except that Govinda or Shah Rukh Khan or Akshay Kumar or Salman Khan or making money out of it.

I don't remark on the realty depicted in the movie...just the technical aspect of it...
dev Patel and Frieda Pinto who are basking in the glory of its success really didn't act that well. The first quarter is very good no doubt...performance, technique and all that but the whole show part and adult Jamal's story line is complete bollocks.

accept
by mayurapriyan sivaraman on Mar 09, 2009 03:09 PM

Hi BM,
what is your age...? The film was set at a time when Amitabh was young and no.1.
May be the slums at that time was too filthy.
Amitabh might deny for 2 things:
1. He has never visited the slums
2. No one who took a s.hit bath got autograph from him.

But we must accept the truth that 2 lacs villages in India doesnt have toilets.
Even the Metros doesnt have a proper public toilet, platform to walk, garbage everywhere.
Even today in chennai, you can see people s.hitting and bathing in the open in a small slum - just opposite the Saidapet Court - few hundred meters from RajBhavan gate. Then think of slums (asia's largest) in those days.

If we have the mentality to accept the poor facility... things will change.
If you dont, change will never happen.

What's the big deal?
by geo ddd on Mar 09, 2009 02:48 PM  | Hide replies

Slumdog was never at #1 position in UK or US.
It is just an overhyped movie. It won the oscars only because the other movies released last year were not good enough

You are partly correct. Anyway, Slumdog is not best movie. Top 6 movies for 2008 are:

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Changeling
Revolutionary Road
The Reader
Wall-E
Slumdog Millionaire

are you serious ???

The curious case of Benjamin Button on top????
What !! I don't believe it, after watching this movie and SlumDog Millionaire I really believe that this movie drags a lot in between scene but on other hand SlumDog binds you up with your seat and never let you move away from it.
I firmly belived and liked SlumDog more the the "not so curious case of B.B."
