Malayalam Film Industry has gone for a toss ! 70s 80s and 90s was the peak of the indiarty with great directors like Padamrajan ,Bharathan ,Aravindan Satyan Antikkad ..Even our superstars where young .They gave some great masterpieces which cant be replicated in any language .But now the situation has changes superstars are acting is such crap movies which cant seen even once .They know that their retirement has come and they are signing as many movies coming their way Mayabazzar ,Red chillies ,Truppu Gulan I don’t even know those name s Sagar Eliyas jakki What junk ..Good directors with good stoires should come up ...Now bolywood is catching up to the holywood status With movies Like Tare Zameen Par, Chak de,Page 3 ,Corporate,Life in Metro and many more Only Aksay Kumar movies are still flowing the 20 year style ..I like those strong social subjects of changing society like Woody Allen Movies should come up .But one thing pathetic thing is that Tamil ,Telugu and Kannda film industry Has not changed for the last 70 years its it the same stories with new heroes heroines and new technique ..Dont know when they will come out of superstars, romance ,fight and flashy songs !

Have you seen recent tamil movies, which were realistic and were successful commercially also? Movies like Alagi, Sethu, Kaathal, Veyil, Virumaandi, Paruththi Veeran, Poo are not less than masterpieces in itself. If you have not seen these movies, then please don't comment! First go and see these movies! (but i agree with your comments that the so called 'stars' in tamil cinema also produce crap movies)

Yes. Tamil is trying to maintain the quality. But Malayalam is becoming a Junk. I am wondering who are the people going to theater to watch these movies.

First this Mamooty and Mohanlal should be replaced....

Good reply, sujith. Most non mallus, when they think of malayalam films, can think of only shakeela. But cannot really blame them, as they cannot think anything beyond sterotypes, by their dim witted brains.

My dear mallu friend,
its always sounds very pathetic when u mallu's comment about tamil movies., i will say tamil movies are equally par to malayalam movies, even malayalam directors still yet to make a movie like 'Roja','Bombay','Indian',Mudhalvan' and so many Balachander movies., Moreover 'Nayagan' went to international level and listed as one of the 100 world best movies... Let me know atleast one malayalam movie which can be equally compared to the above movies..
Iam a big fan of Mohanlal., when i saw kireedam in malayalam, i should say he swept me out of my mind with his acting.
Talent is everywhere., Plz try to appreciate good works whether its in any language.

The problem with Malayalam industry is due to the religious and caste facions in the industry. Also the problem of the communist unions making it impossible for films to be shot.

I have a question for all Tamilians
by Rajiv R on Jun 09, 2009 12:57 PM  | Hide replies

Its not something hate related, so be patient & give me the answer.

Todays generation like Shahrukh, Hrithik & John Abraham where as the older generation prefer Sanjeev Kumar, Kishore Kumar & Amol Palekar.

Todays generation in Kerala like Dileep & Mamooty-Mohanlal dancing with new heriones in colorful dresses where as the older generation prefer serious movies of Mamooty-Mohanlal, Nadimudi venu & Tilakan.

I agree the younger generation can be a big fan of Rajnikant but how can the older & mature generation tolerate Rajnikant dancing with a 19 year old & showing nonsensical acts in a movie?

Waiting for answers. No abuses pls cos i wont be able to read them.

Well Rajiv, Here's the answer on behalf of Tamilians - its not about what age an actor is... its about how much he can exuberate his acting talent (in Rajni's case it is his Style which is well known). Its not only in Tamil, but accepted that in Indian movies that senior heros dancing with young gals(or have no other option but to accept). Because, if you see the actresses who acted with Rajni 25 years ago, some of them are even no more (for eg, Srividya) or some of them are more and more (I mean FAT like Sripriya, etc). So, no one can tolerate him dancing with her right? But if you see, Rajni in his recent movie Shivaji-The Boss, didnt look old either (due to a good make up). But the same Shreya will look Old in 4 yrs from now.

Other instances - Rajkumar in Kannada, NTR in Telugu, MGR from Tamil, etc

Now coming to your North Heroes... Lets talk about Amitabh - has he not danced with young gals in the recent movies. He is not younger to Rajni. Or for that matter Dev Anand??!! Who tolerated him until his 72nd age when he was still acting with young actresses?

So, Why Single out Rajni alone, when there are so many NONSENSICAL oldies dancing with a 19 yr old??

Atleast many in the blog would agree with me that Rajni is synonym to Style compared to all the above.

Makes sense, huh? Coool....

ALL OF YOU GOT MY QUESTION WRONG. Shahrukh salman aamir act with 19 year old but the older generation dont like them at all. How come the older Tamil gentleman like this stupid style of Rajni? The answers given to me by three ppl are also representing younger generation. I want it from an older generations perspective. Some of them are even getting angry as if I pointed out something true & hurting.

Boss.. not many Older generation blog(50 age), if you are prudent enough to understand their mindset about blogging.

The oldest whom you could get to reflect on your Question is someone like me (35 yrs OLD enough to understand your Question).

Rajiv - when we go to watch a film..it is for the entertainment factor.. we go to have a good time for the 2 or 3 odd hours..and if its a Rajini movie we know that it is entertainment guaranteed.. we just have fun and come out.. first of all to do that non-stop for such a long time is in itself an achievement and I can challenge you that there is nobody other than Rajini who can do it.. as long as his dancing with much younger heroines goes.. nobody seems to be having a problem with that including the heroines who gain instant popularity for being even in a single frame with him.. I dont understand why it is bugging you? are you jealous or simply frustrated?

nobody is begging u to see the rajni movies..
ppl like rajni not just he is acting in movie but he a good person,he helps ppl and very simple person.
eventhough salman or hrithik or srk having 6 pack and dancing without shirt they dont have
the fan power wat rajni has becoz in real they r crap, just know to make money and never helped anybody in their life.
ppl know what the actors do on screen is reel thatz the reason nobody cares if rajni acts with 19 yr or 50 yrs heroine.. ppl go to see only rajni not the heroine..
40 ft cut-out is made in theatres for rajni not for the heroine..
if ur that much worried go tell those 19yrs heroines not to act with rajni..
every heroine knows that acting with rajni is an instant rise to stardom..after the movie everybody calls her only as rajni's heroine not with her name.

thatz wat i already said..nobody is begging u see rajni movies and forcing u like him.. the way u cant tolerate rajni's acting the same
way we also cant tolerate amitabh stupid acting and SRK monkey tricks or salman's shirtless dance in beach.
if u think those ppl watching rajni having dung in brain then the say way applies those ppl who see amitabh and srk movies have only pig shit in side their head.
keeping ur name as indian and abusing a whole community shows that ur a racist and cockroach in drainage and not me who abuse only a film industry
