People go to watch stars
by Lastman Standing on Jun 05, 2009 05:02 PM  | Hide replies

Unlike yester years nowadays people go to watch superstars like SRK, Aamir and Akshay. They are superlative actors and dont need good classical scripts etc. Only the mediocre actors of yester years like AB, DK, RK et al needed good script, good cinematography etc. But today you just need the mindblowing presence of SRK in a movie to make it a hit. Who cares for good script? Just go and watch SRK at his charming best on the screen.

A wednesday was classic story
by Yashasvi Shah on Jun 05, 2009 01:31 PM  | Hide replies

Hi i dont agree that present day movies run on actors power. Take the movie A Wednesday where main actor was veteran Naseer and Anupam Kher. It was truly fantastic Story performed Marvellously by naseeruddin Shah n Kher. In Chak De India too Though SRK was there but the script was very gud. Very few films run for 25 weeks now a days and movies are declared hit just in first 2 or 3 weeks based on earnings. Ofcourse movies like DDLJ, HAHK are not or cant be made today. Munna Bhai series is first of its kind when South Indian movies tried to copy Bollywood with big stalwart like chiranjeevi(Telugu) and Kamal(tamil) and still failed.

No Entry was also good original movie and so was partner.

Quality Writers

There is void for quality script cum dialogue writers in Hindi Movie Industry. I strongly feel taht presentday scriptor dialogue writers are simply illiterate. They use TAPORI slangs for any movie. I will site just one exaple, tell them to write the lyrical language as it was in guru Dutt Classic Kagaz Ke phool.
Can any presentday scriptor dialogue writer can attain taht hight. I Doubt Strongly.

I think it was Zanjeer which gave that image which was followed by other films.
Of course script is the soul/spirit of the film but people see body..90% of the bollywood work on the Actors' whim rather than stories. There are very few people who can understand what a good story is till it translates into a hit film. We hardly have people (producers) who got vision to see the film outcome while it is on paper. May God Bless the Industry!

by avinash bais on Jun 03, 2009 07:08 PM  | Hide replies

We r getting badly written films coz our film writers don't read the huge n diversified litrary treasure we have.they only watch DVD's of forgien films to write films. There r so many great short stoties which can be translated into great scripts. Hope some none is listing!!!

wondering why anyone isnt talking about Rab ne bana di jodi. thats one movie with the simplest of story lines, and a very effective screen play. no wonder it got selected for the oscar library of screenplays.

The Oscar library is just that a library, every library has good and bad books/movies. No big deal. Dont believe the hype put out by the Yash Raj. They are more of a marketing company than a movie making company
