Just Great
by Wise Man on Jul 31, 2009 09:35 PM

One of my biggest disappointment in life is, I didn’t get a chance to see legends like Rafi sahab’s and Mukesh Sahab’s live show. After so many years we still buy cassettes/CDs and listen to their music , that tells the entire story about their greatness.
The only thing I wanted to say is , LONG LIVE Rafi sahib’s music for next 100/1000 years.

A Legend of Indian Music
by Saketh Raam on Jul 31, 2009 08:15 PM

As a kid i was bored by his songs when my parents used to hear them very often. Now I realise what a legend he was. His contribution to Indian Music is far from being compared.

KISHORE AND RAFI
by raja gaur on Jul 31, 2009 08:01 PM  | Hide replies

Rafi Sahab was a great singer and a wonderful human being too. But no one can ignore the contribution of Kishore Kumar to Hindi film songs. I feel Kishore was the greatest singer followed by Rafi.
May Rafi sahab rest in peace.

Rafi Saab thanks for your inputs!!

Mohammed Rafi's rendition leaves one clamouring for more. His was a well-modulated delivery of emotions combined with situational musical notes, in which he himself was totally engrossed - leaving his listeners speechless. on

Nobody who has even a slight sense of music can ever disagree with Prakash. The greatest singer of all times and the only one to have been born in India ! May God continue to bless in soul

That unforgettable day when I was mesmerized by Rafi...
by Rajesh Shetty on Jul 31, 2009 07:03 PM  | Hide replies

As a kid I distinctly remember an occasion when I was mesmerized by that great singer. June 25th, 1983. I was a 9th std kid and keenly watching the W.Indies innings of that great W. Cup. Windies were going great guns with Richards at abt 40 for 1. Tht time there was a break in the DD transmission and a program followed 'Ek Shaam, Rafi ke naam'. Naushad the great musician, was directing the band. And that day I was truly mesmerized by that golden voice of Rafi when he sung that great song 'O duniya ke rakhwale , sun dard bare mere naale' from Baiju Bawra a 1950s classic. I guess that was the divine intervention that was needed and God could not have not listened to that great heart rending melody. And when the transmission resumed, Windies were 5 down..!! Singers like Rafi live forever, and to this day I m enchanted by the sheer quality of Rafi's singing. sans all the electronic gizmos of today. Just download those songs from and u will understand why as a kid I was so amazed by that golden voice of Indian cinema.

Very well said Rajesh ! Mohammad Rafi sahab was truly a great singer. Even as I am writing this mail, my eyes moisten at the thought of Rafi sahab not being there, though 29 years have gone by !

na hua hai, na hai, na hoga.
