wht d hell....itz vikram....whoz there in raavana..not madhavan.....and no wonder vikram has overshadowed abhishek...vikram is a far far better avtor thn abhi
Yes, Madhavan is playing 'Ram' in the Hindi version. I think he is one of the finest actors India has ever produced..but just dind't get lucky enough to get the right kind of scripts to get his acting career rolling. Just watch him in 'Yeh hai Mumbai Meri Jaan' how beautifully he has depicted a man totally terrified with the blasts and living in fear. Now, if he is reported to have overshadowed Abhishek Bachchan, I wouldn't be surprised. Abhishek still has miles to go to prove himself completely. Just one 'Guru' and 'one 'Sarkar' isn't enough to call him an actor of substance. I think his father backs him way too much. Mr. Senior B, why don't you leave your son to make his future on his own? Did your father Lt. Dr. Bachchan back you during those 13 flops in the initial phaase of your career?? NO! So..GO MADHAVAN!!

Stupid fellow! When all the other websites state its Vikram, you want to say its Madhavan, just check some other sites also. Madhavan was the main reason for so many flop movies of Mani Ratnam. This time Ratnam doesnt want to commit the same mistake of casting Madhavan in Raavan.

You moron...go and get some knowledge about Madhavan and Mani Ratnam's association that created movies like Alaipayuthe (a blockbuster hit) and 'Kannatthil Muthamittal' (another masterpiece of MR)...and then go and get a life. Madhavan also featured in Guru and had an important part to play. OK fine..he may or may not be in Raavan..but the point is..if ever Abhishek Bachchan is pitted against Maddy, AB Baby will be in trouble..mind it! Now go..and be a GUEST to some other idiot who doesn't know an iota about how Mani Ratnam works.

nowadays he is trying to lift some foreign movie or the other incidentally his old movies were also inspired/wholly or partly by world cinema His Dalapathi was based on Mahabharat,Anjali was inspired by ET etc it would help if a filmaker like him who at one time was threatened by extremists stuck to his type of filmmaking starts doing it again

I agree Rahul. I was kinda disappointed with Guru. I didn't find that Mani Ratnam class we saw in Bombay, Roja, Dalapati, and Agni-nakshatram.

his movies are technically sound mainly because of ar rahman, who composes for all his starting from roja.

A.R. Rahman definitely is one of the main successes of Mani Ratnam's movies..but we can't ignore Mani Sir's talent he proved way before even Rahman's emergence. It used to be illaiyaraja before ARR who composed music for all his earlier blockbusters like Nayakan, Geetanjali and Mouna Raagam. Ratnam's brilliance also was supported by ace Cinematographer Late P.C. Sriram.

The technicians were discovered by mani to say so. There was no film before he made nayagan or agni nakshitram which had the technical aspects in it like the shadow lighting. Its the inner talent that he discovers from every technician whether it was ARR or thotatharani or lenin or anyone. He was a trend setter in using his technicians and a master story teller. His movies if you see now were way ahead. If you see roja now you can make out whats happening now in kashmir, if you see dil se you can make out whats happeing in NE similarly if had seen recent real clippings of warzone in srilankan recapture of jaffna from ltte he had depicted very well in his tamil movie kannathil..

i think he referred to PC's assistant Jeeva who recently passed in Russia
It is true that madhavan is not part of the movie. It could be Vikram who has overshadowed Abhi's performance. It may be recalled, abhikshek openly stated that he was amused at vikram's excellent performance..
Madhavan is never a part of the cast in Ravana... In Tamil version, Prithviraj is playing the role of Ram & Vikram playing the same role in Hindi... Get your facts right before gossipping..
