You are right Sameer, Today, girls want boy’s attentions and for that purpose they show their skin. But, all fault is not their. Parents should be blamed also because they let them do so. It’s a shame!

nobody for ages has had a problem with men going topless in public or wearing shirts! What exactly is the problem - is it women wearing short clothes or the fact that men have to behave like animals, when they see women wearing such clothes? Haven't heard of women attacking men when they see them topless or showing off their legs! Maybe its about time that the society considers changing men's psyche rather than bringing in the taliban regime in India!

Sure you can. but there should be a sense of self understading that We have a different culture from Western countries. These customs, cultures are rooted in us in depth. There is a natural instinct in boys/men that they attracts to a girl/woman when a skin show is there.
This is a simple invitation to troubles bcoz there is no meter to measure when someone looses his senses and do something wrong.
Expression of independence can not be fulfilled by wearing less clothings.
Yes Delhi girls started to daring themselve with real short clothing. Please introspect and think again that is it safe for you with a higher crime rate in the city.
Caution is better then Cure. I urge to parents please please look after your teenage girls. There is no point left in crying after any sad incident of misbehaving or worst than that.
We need to go with the mindsets and maturity level of our society.

Are you trying to imply that women when they are covered will not be attacked? Why, with that logic there would be no rape incidents against women wearing sarees (isnt that the traditional banner of the Indian culture"). There is no link between what somebody wears and what somebody else does! If short clothes were inciteful of crimes against women, tribal women would probably be the highest sufferers. Its about the psyche of men, that needs to change. Because men can't stop behaving like animals (well actually even animals are not perturbed by what the female of their species wears), the women are expected to be "careful". FYI a lot of other countries, Singapore, China have their women wearing dresses "much westernised" (in your terminology) by Indian standards and have the lowest crime rates. Maybe its the Indian men who need to pick up a thing or two from their western counterparts!

But then why are the rape statistics the highest in the liberal western countries. Since the men have been fed a diet of female emancipation and all and can dress in minimal clothing, so if clothes and a dose of liberal upbringing do not encourage or deter such crimes then how come the west is full of rapists. There is a rape every second in NY.

Victiizing girl child? Why do you think women wear skimpy clothes? Because they can't bear the heat? they in their ac cars and homes...It's pure basic instinct to attract men. to be admired and lusted after. and men respond as expected. it's just basic biology. but since we live in a civilized society most men try to control themselves. but a rare few won't or can't. of course women have the right to wear hot pants or go nude. but it's just common sense to wear decent clothes on the streets. like you have the right to go to a tiger infested jungle, but you won't.

P.S. Infact the ages old idiom of suppression of making women as the flagbearer of culture needs to change too. Culture is not entirely the domain of women. Make men stop wearing western shorts, sleeveless Ts etc..lets all go back to the traditional Indian wear of dhoti kurta and sarees, in which case Jeans and Trousers are out for both the genders too! @ Mr. Govil : Parents should teach their boy child some basic decency as regards women, rather than victimising their girl child.

Dont be a Hippocrate you fool. I am sure people like you spend most of their time looking for some skin to show up. You loser!! With people like you around it does not matter someone shows their skin or not. Women are yet molested. Did you ever see in India there are godesses worshiped nude. I dont mean every one should go around naked. But if a boy can wear anything then leave the choice to girl regarding what to wear. Dont preach try to give some respect to women
