It's remake of Mallu Superhit movie "Udayanu Tharam" acted by none other than Mohanlal. how come Aneez bazmi is the writer, when the highly creative Sreenivasan penned the story and the Roshan Andrews the director of mallu version is a co-director too of Short Kut.

True. The film is already remade into Tamil, with Prithviraj doing the lead role. The Tamil version did reasonable justice to the original movie, and to the fantastic melancholic song "Ariyaathe Parayaathe". I am curious to know how they rendered it in Hindi !
