Why only Danny for slumdog, one mr adiga , the likes of arundhati roy ,kiran desai ,u & me also can be heaped honours for portraying India distastefully. While there is no denying the poverty & filth that ruins India, these people mock upon them for definite western approval. Vilification not empathy of India's misery is these people's claim to fame! but i congratulate rahman for good music and the resultant award ,congratulation!

Exaclty max, it's as if these westerners cant see anything but poverty here in India. Sure it does exist here but there are other good things about India too. I think these people like to focus on the negative aspects of India or other developing countries only to feel better about themselves. It doesnt have anything to do with empathy. It's like watching a freak show for them. I have seen this movie already. It was a good entertainer but it didnt feel sincere to me. It was just a mix of all the stereotypical negative perceptions that westerners have about India in general. It's sad our image hasnt changed much in the last 50 years or so. I cant say I'm too happy with this movie's success as it only tries to re-force the negative stereotypes that the world connects us with.

Ironically out nation was the richest nation for 4800 years out of the last 5000 years of recorded history. Whereas these so called western nations were the filthiest and poorest of nations for the same period. Hope things work out India's way in the next 100 years

There is no historical evidence or records that India was the richest economy in the world...another mere figment of Indian imagination relating to greatness past!

Where did you get the idea there is no historical evidence ? You must be a moron to think India was not the richest region in the ancient world.
