I doubt whether a movie on Mahabharat is practical. Shrinking this epic into 94 episodes of 45 minutes length itself was with difficulty by BR Chopra. How could somebody tell this story in 3 hours without losing the essence?
Look at the list of movies about Indians that Americans liked and have nominated:-
1:- Mother India 2:- Salaam Bombay. 3:- Lagaan 4:- Water 5:- Slumdog Millionaire
(6:- Bend It Like Bekham) All these movies have 1 thing in common is that they all showed the poorer side of india and indians. The only movie that beats this list is :- Bend It Like Beckham which lost the Golden Globe for BEST MOTION PICTURE - MUSICAL OR COMEDY to another wonderful movie Finding Nemo. But BILB was about Indians living in UK and not in India otherwise it would have never been nominated. All that western world wants to see about india is poverty and misery. They seem to be fasinated by it and find it very beautiful !!

Aamir should actually boycott the oscars. Publicly. Expose those crooks. If Lagaan is not a good film, then I dont know what good movies, and THEY dont know what good movies are. I think the songs in the movies dont gel with their thinking, but the message in the movie and the sheer entertainment value it provided proves that Indians, at least Aamir, understand entertainment very well. Oscar is for their culture, why do we die for Oscar awards? People see Indian films over there anyways.

and yeah right there are no slums in india.. by making big buildings you cant disown the slums.. why dont you fix them and then talk?

True. But there's more to India than just poverty and slums. There's a lot more that can be shown to the westerners (eg- OUR culture), but that is not appreciated by them, rather greatly misunderstood by the vast majority of them. Do you even know what a lot of westerners imagine India is like, due to such stereotypical movies? (And I say this while sitting in one of the western countries, with many first- and second-hand experiences to share)

To mirror - Lagaan is not about showing poor India and all about showing brave and the unity of India.

Lord Krishna was a perfect son, perfect friend, perfect warrior, perect hus..band perfect savior,and in short a perfect person. Since Amir is known to be a perfectionist,he will have to immerse these qualities at some level.
