West is always Prejudiced!
by Junier Citizen on Jan 12, 2009 11:12 AM  | Hide replies

That is always happen. West World is always prejudiced to their cinema be it oscar or golden globe or anyother.
West always loves "superiority complex" in their mind. You pose INDIA SLUM in cinema and the movie always get more viewership. They dont want to see any other aspect regarding India. You make a cinema about Middle class, metro city, Indian Millionier, Industry, That will always flop in west. What can I say more about this.

Take a bottle filled with black ink, put 10% of white color in it...it wont turn into white ink. 90% of India lives the way its shown in the film. You are one of the 10% who want to turn black into into white by dropping few drops of white color into it.

Fyi.

If you add 10 units of white to 100 units of black, then white % becomes 9.09%, not 10%.

I know, i know, i'm one of the .1818% interested in getting figures right :-)

No denial of poverty !
by Irfan on Jan 12, 2009 10:59 AM  | Hide replies

We should stop denial of extreme poverty in India.
60% of Indian dont have a loo in the house. Why do we wanna show all is fine in India when its not.
High time we work on basics. thats only possible if we eradicate corruption.

You didn't know about rural indian. Do you know that there is 90% subsidy for making loo (Indian comod Flush system as in your home)in their home in rural area and the sceme exit for last 20 year and still thet dont want it in their home. What will you do if they dont want. Dont try to estimate (measure) the indian on your standard. They like their standard of living, whatever they are.

tHAT IS WHAT I ALWAYS SAYING. IF YOU ADD SOME % OF WHITE IN SOME % OF BLACK , IT WILL COME SOME % SHADE OF GRAY. THAT IS LIFE. LIFE IN NOT BLACK OR WHITE, IT ALWAYS SOME % OF GRAY. BUT SEE ALL HOLLYWOOD PAST MOVIE DEPICTING INDIA , IT IS ALWAYS BLACK NOT GRAY AND I OBJECT THIS ONLY BLACK SHADE. WHAT SLUMDOG IS SAYING IS INDIA IS A BIG SLUM. WEST IS MILLIONER. I OBJECT THIS ME LORD.
ONE OF MY PAST EXPERIANCE IS : ONE GERMAN ONCE SAID ABOUT INDIA THAT "I ALWAYS THINK THAT INDIA IS A COUNTRY OF SNAKE CHARMERS AND BACKWARD POPULATION ONLY. BUT MY PERCEPTION CHANGED ONCE GERMANY START PAYING HIGH AMOUNT OF MONEY TO INDIAN SOFTWARES PERSONALS (MORE THAN THE GERMANS) THAT NOT ALL INDIAN ARE BACKWARD. INDIAN ARE ALSO BEST MINDED PERSON."

The film opens up the real India to the world. Police brutality, child molestation, child labor, communal terrorism, lack of basic hygiene, crime...

tell me one country in this earth which is free from all those what you have told. And India is not the only country with all the problem. What makes it great is it still is the fastest developing among the developing nations. Today India has got its recognition despite poverty & corruption. Its citizens are topping the charts of wealthy.
What makes the westerner fill their bags is showing India's filth. I think thats their habit to make wealth form rags.

In a country that falls behind somalia in hunger index, we have people that make to the forbes rich list. Say it all! doent it ? The disparity of wealth is just another brutal reality that this film highlights in the underlying theme!

Great film with positives about India
by atul on Jan 12, 2009 10:49 AM

1. Even a slumdog can achieve stardom in India. thousands of people come to mumbai each day in search of opportunities and this is for them
2. Dharavi, one of biggest slums in asia has been on a path of transformation for last 10 years and the film shows the transformation to skyscrapers and this is quite an achievement considering the size and the limited extra resources India had during the last decade
3.Due to a great deal of publicity, this movie has generated, Lots of Indian expats and NRI's are sending help, monetary and logistically towards transforming India, and with an attitude of yes we can. With all this help, India will soon rise above its issues in a united fashion

India will shine no doubt. But first you wake up from your sleep and try to see the greatness in India. Accepted we have poverty, corruption but we don't live like cannibals in the name of civilized world. Even the Allies needed Indian soldiers to fight & win the world war. India was not a country which was formed by the foreigner wealthy people killing the natives and making them their slaves. Time and above the westerners have looted its wealth to empower the kingdom. Its developing as a peer in terms of technology with the developed nations.

i dont know hwy people are bashing this glory saying it is not an indian film. well, it isn't, but still it is based in india and has indian actors. our very own RAHMAN has won golden globe award for this movie. why can't you celebrate that? just enjoy the moment when indians are being called and recognised worldwide rather than bringing this happy moment down saying stupid stuff. cheers!! kudos to rahman and slumdog millionaire team!!
