music and songs of Jai Ho
by ranjan bhadury on Feb 26, 2009 03:55 PM

Many congrats to ARR and team for this great success of winning Oscar award.Certainly I do agree with some one who said ARR has scored better music than this. Why not talk about our golden era of music when music, singing and singers were unmatchable and far far superior, evergreen as well as greatest ever. They actually deserved much greater awards perhapes some thing like may be,"Tansen international awards"
Any way this british directed film got award and ARR an team got what ARR who is also a great musician, has deservedly, got one of the best awards on earth.

Prabal Biswas Ji, You need both big head and heart to appreciate something good. It appears you do not have either of them.May be you did not like it because there was no songer from West Bengal among the four singers of this song.Learn appreciating whatever is good.It does not cost anything.

What's wrong in Slumdog Millionaire ??
why do we have to shy away from telling the world Yes.. 80% of our country's population is below the poverty line, they live in such conditions.. and they can't afford 2 square meals in a day.

Among all the people who criticise SDM for depicting India in a shabby vision, If I ask anyone to come forward to help the slum dwellers in any way, not a single soul will come forward, b'cos all those criticising this film are hypocrites who wud just keep writing in such forums against the movie, but when it comes to ACTION to serve a noble cause, nobody will come forward to help.

Nobody has lost anything due to this film.. But ofcourse, 2 of of the children who acted in the movie, who have indeed being saying in the slums till now, will have a better life now...

Let's be happy atleast for those 2 kids and their families.

Latest report is that in India less than 50% is below poverty line with Tamil Nadu has record 63%. Pl update the facts when you are coming to a forum like this. Doesn't mean 50% is ok but India is progressing well.

But buddy what they have shown as 'slum'in the film is not an art; its the fact and still we have slums. Let us educate our own people rather speaking about a foreigner.

What have you Mr. Vilas P ever done to do away poverty than write all this bull crap in such online forum?
If u r ashamed of the slums then develop the slums. See the movie and try to understand wot they have shown. They have shown that Mumbai has developed a lot and there has been lot of progress in India.
The film is all about hope and optimism. But ppl like you will never understand. U wud do nothing ever in yr life but will b the first to criticise anything and everything. go get a life dude.

Hope and optimism can be presented in a better way, by our people. The outsider need not show them. People like u allowed such elements in the past history & ruled & looted India.
Now, they are sloowly coming back, without our knowledge in the name of MNCs, IT, BT & such kind of movies.

Only difference now is, they are sitting in their respective countries & ruling us in the name of business, because of the huge development in the communication. People like u may show all your weaknesses & allow them to rule us.

Good reply. Our people will put in 10 songs in a good movie and disturb the pace of the movie. Am not demeaning Indian talent. But the target audience is different. SDM is for a foreign audience. Our movies are for indian audience.
MNCs IT and all these have employed lakhs and lakhs of people in india. Indian MNC's also go abroad and does business there. Its called globalization.

What have you done to improve things in your own country. Do you atleast throw garbage in a dustbin, or simply dump it in the road. Answer me honestly. First improve yr country and then preach others. If there is no negative in India then no one would be able to show it. I again state there is nothing wrong or pessimistic shown in the movie. It shows yrs back India had bad conditions but now things are developing which is nothing but a fact. Travel length and breeadth of the country and see for yourself how much poverty exists.

These songs are for the entertainment. Not for anythingelse.
Even in Lagaan, the songs were removed to keep the pace for white skins. Even then, it did not move upto runner-up.
It is sure that, you'll not get any thing, if u speak against the whites, not only in filmland, but also in all the fields.
Deliberately the shots of slums have been taken (particularly the one in which a boy jumps into the shit-pit) and SHOWN TO THE ENTIRE WORLD and awarded with OSCAR, so that the entire world will watch, once it is a OSCAR awardee.
Do we show any thing about their prostituion or any other matter in our films? No, we Indians never attacked anybody in any form in our past 3000 yrs history.
But got attacked so many times, in one or the other form. Why should we be attacked? We are also human beings, as they have born in this world.

Mr. Vilas, Did you watch the movie No Mans Land to which Lagan lost? Im sure you dint. That was a superb movie, much better than Lagaan. Its very difficult to win a foreign film category, coz there are 65000 movies competing for attention. Meanwhile in the mainstream category, they are biased towards movies which have already got notice like BAFTA and the likes.
In our films we show the flag of USA or Australia or other country, you should your sense of patriotism there. You shud question the need of songs to be shot in foreign locales. And not question acclaim India has got.
If you close your eyes and sit you wont see any problem. The idea of patriotism is to love your country knowing all its defects and try to improve it.
In your case its completely misplaced.
Last to last yrs winner was CRASH in which they showed Racism as it exists in the US. So dont give me that foolish logic and for that matter the movie is an adaptation of a book written by an Indian called Q&A, hope u atleast know that.

Vilas, The computer you typed this message, the internet, the network and also the language(English) were not developed in India. So why are you using them, or are you allowing outsiders to rule you ??!! Get out of this "Victim" metality. There are hundreds of Indian movies ("Traffic Signal" by Madhur Bhandarkar is one example) that show slums, poverty and crime. So how come you never protested at that time?

1. Before using ""they called us “DOG”."" you please say sorry all Indians. You are calling all Indians as a dog. If you don't understand the meaning of slum-dog use a god english dictionary. Dog is used for man.
2. If we have poverty why not accept it. What this film say a man can rise from bottom in Mumbai. Look at Mr Amitabh bachan, mellenium actor, Mr Nausad, the great musician Mr Mithun Chakrabory and many more. If someone make a film on their biography how can their early life can be eliminated, Mr Nushad passed 10 year on footpath!.

My bother look from open heart, if we have slums in mumbai why not try to eradicate them.

Rightly said. Even in the cricket the term Underdogs is used so commonly. That doesnt means the team is being abused and called a \'Dog\'. Similarly slumdog is also a term and has nothing to do with the Dog specifically.
