Unlike other Indian actors who participated in the awards function, Ms.Freida did not look out of place in Hollywood. She can just about pass off as a black (afro-american) artiste. She certainly has a very similar appearance !
Perhaps this might be why she kept grinning ear to ear (which made her even more afro-american in appearance) whenever the camera panned on her ! Lack of an Oscar nomination need not always be a dampener even while trying to hog the limelight at the Oscar awards. There are such other matters that an Indian artiste can look up to !
Neither i am too conservative, nor against fashion or modeling... but what an ugly pose this girl has taken in this pic....it is completely obscene... the photographer might have utilized her for a much beautiful one....

contact pramod muthalik of RAM SENA and teach the girl a lesson. How dare she insult our great Indian culture and wheres her kanjeevaram saree? posing in her petticoat- shameless girl.
I can't believe some of the comments on Freida; she's average-looking, girl-next-door, too dark, untalented, etc. Why can't we just be happy for her? We with our typical Indian mentality would cast off this girl as ugly simply because she looks like a real Indian girl, but the Western media LOVE her looks (unlike Ash who left them unimpressed with her Caucasian looks, which might be special for us but not for them) and appreciate her beauty and talent. Why can't we just rejoice for her?

It ain't so simple, miss; it never was !
The preferance for fair skin is a truly global phenomenon, not just an Indian fad !
And, you cant proffer the occasional western appreciation of a dark one as sole proof that fair and dark get truly equal places in the world of beauty ! Just take a look at the numbers from both the 'dark' and 'fair' peoples vying for honours in the citadels of fashion and beauty such as Milan, Berlin, Paris, New York...and count and compare the number of darkies and fair ones who succeed. Do take into account the proportion of the successful darkies and fair ones among the ones who take such turns at stardom. It will then hit you very well enough !
I on't care about the beauty. But, when it comes to talent, she's below average. Her performance in Slumdog was below average at best.
Oh, one more thing Frieda...be ware of thi mn Woody Allen. After all, he's known as a womanizer and married the adapted daughter of his own girlfriend.
He has a thing for young and underage women. Be areful.
