honestly she aint pretty ... moreover that dumb girl dint evn have the presence of mind 2 wear a sari... rather she decided 2 go "international" in a gown n merge with the crowd... honestly she aint much of an actress she is just ridin the success of the movie n the last thing on earth is that she is pretty... gawd ash is a stunner maybe nt a good actress bt 1 hell of a graceful girl
she pales in comparison to her counterparts in bollywood and hollywood.. maybe in sum other civilization she might be beautiful but definitely not by indian standards,,,

That might be your opinion. But at this moment she is the one who starred in the movie that won the best picture academy award and she is on the cover of Vogue. Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. If you cannot be happy for her that's fine but do not envy her success!

Oh yeah, so she doesn't have an ash-white face with large blue eyes to match, so she's ugly, right? Take your 'Indian beauty standards' and flush them down the toilet. If she were not pretty, she would not be on the cover of Vogue magazine.

I'd like to remind you that she worked as a model in India before Slumdog Millionaire, a profession that obviously requires good looks!!! So it's a bit far-fetched to say that Freida Pinto is not considered beautiful by Indian standards. She represents authentic, natural Indian beauty and that is precisely why she is appreciated in the West! She has a flawless bone structure, a beautiful, glowing golden complexion, a slender, graceful, figure. These are all her God-given attributes. She may not be considered by mainstream Indian standards to be as beautiful as Bollywood starlets like Kareena Kapoor et al but here's a news flash for you: a Kareena Kapoor couldn't cut it in the West. Her features are neither delicate nor refined, not even very feminine (she's often described as being horsey). She had to starve herself in order to get a decent body. The only thing she has going for her is her gori-gori looks, which, yes unfortunately have a stronghold on Indian standards of beauty, to the point of blinding Indians to criteria that are far more important, namely, beautiful facial features and a good figure. And Freida clearly does not pale in comparison to her counterparts in Hollywood, otherwise why would EVERYONE in Hollywood be so taken up by her beauty?
i dont understand why is media hyping her so much..i mean the real stars of the film were the street kids who kept the film drifting with their near flawless acting, Freida is just swelling on the film's success. This thing is not going to last for long.
first shilpa shetty in UK, then Aishwarya Rai in US and now this girl in US....why are they so bhooka for publicity in the west? All of them from mangalore and brought up in mumbai...any common attitude to be seen?

yes, common attitude of doing better than everyone else ... ..another thing common among them...'beauty' and 'talent'.. They represent the progressive modern Indian women...
And to all those who criticize south indians...and their looks....these girls are from southern Indian state of Karnataka!

You make me laugh since you're the one who began compartmentalising Indians: "All of them from Manalore and brought up in Mumbai... any common attitude to be seen?"
