Future of Indias film indutry is in shifting to English
by NamoUdupiSrikrishna on Feb 24, 2009 05:17 PM  | Hide replies

Future of Indias film indutry is in shifting to English, to be global in nature.

Indian professionals, scietists and thinkers have succeeded asnd recognised when they started doing their bwork and expressing their talent in a globally recognised language, that is english. Indian film industry has to come out of the its over dependence of hindi and regional languages and has to shift to English to be global, for more exposure, for survival and to show case its originality, before outsiders export their products for our large englsh enabled audience. English is the language which has won the battle of dominance in world and when we adopt it we too are part of that. Otherwise bollywood will face the fate of Spanish, French, German or rabic language movies. English is the common language for Indians and it is foreighn language to every Indian, love it, marry it, reproduce it and make it your own to succeed.

English is the global medium of communication for the new millenium. make it yours, Bollywood, then surive and succeed. Make Indiam movies with Indian stories, Indian stars, Indian settings, Indian songs, Indian technology in Indian English. This is the way to go, get recognised and to success.

Jai Hind,

Great Srikrishna this is very positive. We must beat people in their own game. Many Indian speak good english. Most of us speak good english. We can always make good films in English. Who has got the guts. We always look for the bottom line. We have Dons to produce our films and many have got the connections. From where do we get our crores for film making. Moreover, our film industry is not even recognised. Our actors have formed a coterie of actors. No new talents. Who has the guts to make a film with people from the slums. You are absolutely right. Dont blame the recession. There are people to see good films. Grapes are sour attitude (Amitabh and Amir) These people always boasted about Oscar now they say it is just another institution give awards. We must change. Thanks you hit the nail on the head.

why slumdog won?
by pankaj parekh on Feb 24, 2009 05:16 PM

Lets face it, this is no different from a regular hindi commercial movie only that it was made by britishers who are firm allies of USA which owns and hosts the oscars.
A message has been broadcast loud and clear: An indian movie can win only and only if it is produced/directed by either americans or the british or for that any other foreigner.indians dont have the talent to make great movies. so while everything else is indian just the label made by ----- should be foreign then it could win.
Aamir, are you listening? tie up with someone in UK or USA and you can definately hold the oscar statue.
Bollywood and to that Indians are a great challenge to the world simply because they have great intelligence and imagination and the only way they can undermine them is to indulge in stupid and childish behaviour.
Ignore these assholes and continue doing what you are doing.
afterall, greatness doesnt need a brass statue to be recognised.

how ‘slumdog’ word is justified?
by Saugata Banerjee on Feb 24, 2009 04:49 PM  | Hide replies

i had a very strict objection on name ‘slumdog’ which is being tried to justified as underdog! then why in this film again and again jamal was called by the police inspector as ‘mr. dog’ or simply as ‘dog’? because it’s hidden intention of boyle like western to give Indian a new name –‘slumdog’! it’s new world, then how directly dog can be called!
earlier this britisher used to call us ‘dog’ and sign board they used to keep ‘ dogs & Indians r not allowed’! ‘slumdog’ is not a dictionary word! u can not create a word like this! then who is underdog in office, he can be called ‘office dog’! who is underdog in a locality, he can be called as ‘localitydog’!

u travel by bus and u like custard, then ur friends r calling u sounds like ‘bastard’! is it o.k.? when u object if they explain that we called u ‘bustard’ what means ‘ a large land bird that can run very fast’ as u r traveling very fast , we were just comparing!
will u be satisfied? shud u not stop them from calling u such? !!!!

I strongly agree with you on being labeld Dogs.
Then that is how the world see us.
This movie is nothing but a big farce.
I could not see anything special in it.
Had it been made by Indians it would not have carried out such a weight.
One thing for sure it has portrayed that we Indians and India is still 500 years behind as far as the general public and development is concerned.
India as a whole is a SLUM and will be Slum for a long time to come.
Don't tell me we are advanced and advancing,we don't have any thing to offer to our own people let alone the world.
What ever we make is of foreign design, franchise financed by foreign companies.
SO WHERE DO WE STAND IN THE SLUMS.

Great narration

She seems to remember each detail after she arrived. Very observant and true. She narrates the whole thing very clearly and in a good sequence. Might be a good writer in the future :)
