Danny Boyle is a good man

His Trainspotting was another eye-opener on British poverty.

That he was able to package all Indian mega-issues into one little package which also packed in Bollywood music in indeed incredible. Love to Loveleen tandon who worked so hard.

To all Indians who feel in disgrace and shame, plenty of things in India to feel ashamed about. Or don't you care?

Oscar??
by Bharat Bharat on Feb 25, 2009 03:44 PM  | Hide replies

I saw this movie yesterday and I find nothing extraordinary. There are lot of movies in Indian Cinema which are far better than SM. Though I am a big fan of Rehaman but his music in this film not really impressed me.
Anyways, this is the way Oscar works, they first check the skin of the director and producer.

well said!!!. A R Rahman's Taal songs deserve an oscar for him long back!!!. This clearly proves a person needs exposure to English audience to get oscars and to get recognized!!. Hope the english fools will start listening to our great A R Rahman's music and start considering him every year in oscars now!!.

Slumdog is a word coined up from two words "slum-dwellers" and "underdog"!!! I no what ur trying to point out!!!
Come on!!! Show signs of some tolerance man!!! A movie is just meant for entertainment does not aim at harming anyone's sentiments or show others country in dark!!! I dont know why people make so much noise before and after the movies release!!! It happened with jodha akbar, billu, ghajini, and the list is just countless!!! Come on if india needs to come ahead to become a superpower then we need to have a tolerant society which can absorb the punches thrown at it and reply back harder!!!

how ‘slumdog’ word is justified?
by Saugata Banerjee on Feb 24, 2009 06:03 PM  | Hide replies

i have a very strict objection on title or word ‘slumdog’ which is being tried to justified as underdog! then why in this film again and again jamal was called by the police inspector as ‘mr. dog’ or simply as ‘dog’? because it’s hidden intention of boyle like western to give Indian a new name –‘slumdog’! it’s new world, then how directly dog can be called!
earlier this britisher used to call us ‘dog’ and sign board they used to keep ‘ dogs & Indians r not allowed’! ‘slumdog’ is not a dictionary word! u can not create a word like this! then who is underdog in office, he can be called ‘office dog’! who is underdog in a locality, he can be called as ‘localitydog’!
u r underdog among brothers in ur house, can u be called ‘housedog’!

u travel by bus and u like custard, then ur friends r calling u sounds like ‘bastard’! is it o.k.? when u object if they explain that we called u ‘bustard’ what means ‘ a large land bird that can run very fast’ as u r traveling very fast , we were just comparing!
will u be satisfied? shud u not stop them from calling u such? !!!!
