The Brits are at it again! Yup, Slumdog is just another instance of Britishers using and abusing India with the support (even active participation) of a few Indians.
I also disagree that there is popular cheer over Slumdog and the Golden Globe or Oscars. Perhaps the English media is making a lot of noise for nothing.
All this clamour and cheer about Oscars simply demonstrates our media's immaturity and eagerness to latch on to anything that appears circulation-friendly or TRP-raising.

How British is Anil Kapoor or all the actors or the Mumbai Railway station and Mumbai as a whole?? How British is A R Rahman and the rest of the sound cast?
How British is the poverty depicted in the movie and conditions depicted in the movie. I see India I see Mumbai ... I drive past it day in day out! and May be like you I am ashamed or embrassed of it and may be like you I turn to ignore it or black it out! But unlike you I will not chose to say it does not exist! So tell me why are all the super stars jumping of to US and Europe and the far east and Australia and South Africa to shoot their movies... these same Bachan Sab and Shilpa Shitties!! What is wrong with our beautiful India? how double standard are they ?? and how double standard are you? Admire the fact that someone people choose to make a film surrounded on certain facts and it has got the recognition that no other movie from India has! and for the first time a few Indians stand in line to win something that will show the world we are as good as the so called best in the world!!
and if you feel that India is so Hard done then you and Bachan Sab can go out there and make a change ....feed the poor give them better shelter and find them jobs!!

Well Said, completely agree with you. It's easy to criticize, but something that is Indian (as in talent) is appreciated for which Credit should be given
is a classic example of hypocrisy. She has used the fame bestowed upon her by Slumdog MIllionaire and is milking it to the maximum effect. I wonder where all the concern for slum children went away.
I think.. it's a struggle of deep neuro-anxietimusilinous versus the bougeoise versus the proletariat in a potentially politico-sexist setting. It is an intense story and I'd love to turn it into cinema. What say Vikram?

Maheshbhai, why is your attention wandering? Every time you see something in a sk. irt you imagine good cinema. By the way I have sent you 39 DVDs to look up for some ideas. There are some Hollywood films, some Irani and some Italian films. There are even some Bhojpuri films with great story. Check them out. Forget this Fredda bedda. Our Kanganas can give better hits.
