3 Idiots
by karthiknarayan on May 23, 2010 09:22 AM

A lot of things have been said about the Film 3 Idiots. Stars have been given - from 1 - 5 representing ratings. But, THIS FILM has been one of the Best I have ever seen in my Life. The Film tries to synchronize Idealistic Education System with the Modern Day culture and drives home the message 'PASSION' is the manthra for success. Again success does not necessarily mean materialistic comforts, it is more deeper. All great accomplishments on earth have been by individuals who had dared to tread a lonely path..be it Einstein, Newton to Ramanjuan, C.V. Raman, Vishy Anand, Sachin Tendulkar, Amartya Sen etc. Sarath Baby, the IIMA alumni who refused MNC offers has set up his own Hotel Chain pioneering a new mind set amongst Individuals. Aamir Khan is an individual who thinks different. Hirani, Chopra too are such people who wish to make some difference in Bollywood. The film is a Lesson of Existence. Such films cleanse Bollywood from gyrating belly dances and irritating kissing scenes and would certainly elevate the status of Indian Films to greater heights.

Good review

This review doesnt call this a bad movie... clearly says "it has a lot of promise and eventually gets disappointing". This is true... I thoroughly enjoyed the first half of the movie and after intermission, it went downhill. Scenes towards the end were just too 'filmy' and could've been easily avoided.

Ridiculous review!

Aseem seems to think Film has to be real. If so, I can sit at my balcony and watch the drama unfold on the road!

Film is an exaggerated representation of life. In 3 hours, they have to tell a complex lifestory and entertain.

3 Idiots does that very well. My whole family was in splits for most parts of movie and was in tears at right places.

As to 'ridiculous dramatic moments' - Aseem may not be aware, in reality the real life events are more dramatic than anything that can be conjured up by Bhagat, Hirani/Joshi...

A Rathore can harrass a family and push a girl to suicide. In Nathari a human being can kill and eat kids! I personally know of Lecturers who held grudge against their students and ruined their chances. And to ridicule someone walking out of their own marriage?? Again I know personally a girl who did just that!! She married the same person a year and half later!

So, a movie tries to put many such dramas in 3 hours and review it in that context. There are no visible flaws and this movie deserves a 3.5 if not a 4 stars.

The only * you can take away from movie is the insensitivity with which it portrays a south Indian Student and also a poor family. Hirani makes it a crime to be poor and even portrays it in black and white as if to say povery is a forgotten era in India!! That's laughing at more than 40% of India.
