by manoj rawat on Dec 21, 2009 09:51 AM

One of the best Special Effect movie ever made. At least worth a watch once.

Average Movie
by Prashanth DSouza on Dec 21, 2009 08:06 AM  | Hide replies

This movie, although visually appealing (like Cameron's last) was lacking in a definitive story line. And I mean really lacking in imaginative story telling. For the length of the movie, it seems incredible that the story is so miniscule.

There is no acting performance to talk about. The day isn't far when animated characters will start winning Oscar awards.

The most disappointing aspect of the storyline is that hollywood still sticks to cultural stereotyping, and fashions the Na'vi on the african people. Or did I get this wrong?

Graphics are quite stunning, and a lot of work has gone into the design. Lacklustre movie overall.

Hollywood is the best and Avatar once again reasures this fact.

A breathtaking epic journey
by praveen rao on Dec 21, 2009 06:52 AM

If you havent seen AVATAR, then please SEE IT. There is imagination that is in the realm of mortals and then there is the imagination capacities of geniuses which takes you to a world that you cant even fathom to imagine. James Cameron creates a breathtaking imaginary world with mind numbing visual wizardry that just blows you away and spins a fantastic sci-fi-love story-meets Green peace activism yarn that leaves you speechless, for the sheer audacity of his work. This is movie making which is years ahead of its time. I am a big doubter and sceptic of sci-fi and Computer Graphics wizardry but figured all reviews cant be wrong at the same time. He makes Star Wars look like a kindergarten picnic. IMAX 3D is the only medium that does justice to this. Believe me, it's worth every cent. After a long time, Hollywood rises to the challenge and puts out a product that holds you and never lets go till the end. The old adage of
'The Magic of the movies" was lost for a long time, but this brings it back to life and how.

Anshuman Acharya
very docile review
by Anshuman Acharya on Dec 21, 2009 12:56 AM  | Hide replies

Raja,

You used to be refreshing once. What's with this docile review I have read everywhere else - even quoting from the director's cut (IMDB trivia)about Worthington's anonymity.

It's a visually breathtaking movie, yes, but please do not speak about "our generation". I don't know if you were around the time ET, Aliens and, more importantly, T2 came. Matrix and LOTR's Gollum, remembered off the cuff, have had, in my opinion, more impact. But that is subjective - and I do not make sweeping statements about generations thus.

Cameron is also the guy who gave us Titanic and that sloppy sentimentalist and cliched script. I hear no one talk about Avatar's entirely predictable plot line. It was like seeing 'Dance with the Wolves' in 3D animation.

Of all the lavish platitudes, I glean only two words which might have shaped a more interesting review - now fashionable. That's what Avatar entirely is: right down to the SecondLife avatar craze.

Avarar - Good message movie
by TringMaster on Dec 20, 2009 11:07 PM

This movie simply shows how we humans for our greediness kill the mother nature. We just want to show out high handness on the nature rather than integrate with the nature.

Coming to the technicalities of the movie, the planet Pandora was very well conceptualized by Cameroon. Especially during the night the Pandora looks excellent, a visual treat to everyone.
This movie is worth watching on the screen.

not true
by prashant sharma on Dec 20, 2009 09:46 PM  | Hide replies

Why do we have such an inherent inferiority complex? the movie was a disaster. I walked out of the hall in 40 minutes. It was a brainless, computerized, animated film with no art, acting, story and soul.
we indians are shamelessly praising a children's cartoon film. This movie is not even a shadow on cameroon's last release titanic.
there are so many much much better films. this hype is just because of the fact that it is a james cameroon film. That is it.
i wonder when someone will have the courage to say that it is unwatchable. abhishek bacchhan did try to say, but obviously no one really can. the hype is such.

tech animation is not film making. film making is an art. it requires soul and craft.
just by writing 'dude' u dont become a dude yourself. develop some taste. grow up.
although it is easier said than done as it is not in your genes. i know what i am talking about.

hello Prasant Sharma .. you are a funny guy .. just 40 mins dude ..are you serious ..and you wrote 40 odd bad comments on the movie .. even a worst reviewer wont like to write a review after watchig for just 40 min... you appears like some kind of brain dead guy .. who have lot of frustration for himself .. and just whatvever you dont like / digest you vomit on others .... animation is also an art .. and should be used wherever needed and its very appealing to masses .. .. and AVATAR animations are like you do not feel that these are computer generated images coz they used performance capture technology.. .. man learn to appreciate everything which is made to entertain you even if you do not like it.. look at Cameron.. his aura and look at you in the mirror.. .. AVATAR is not an ordinary movie it is much more bigger which unfortunately doesn't fit in your small frame of mind... sorry dude.. .but i ve to put something after reading the painful dirty writing of yours

dear Mr Bhatia
i dont feel insulted when brain bereft people like yourself abuse me. secondly, i believe taste and class cannot be cultivated, one is born with it. I dont need to say anything more to you. You can continue to vent out your frustration against my views. The fact is that a computerized 3d flick is not a classic, it will never be.

i know what u mean. but i guess people will slowwly start to speak out. the one with brains i mean. the general response in america is now slowly turning negative. u can only push a movie so much with hype and 3d effects.
what u call lack of intellect is actually a sign of presence of intellect. sadly missing in the majority of the population.

That's correct, yesterday I watch it in New York in 2D and everyone started clapping at the end of movie including me. I liked this movie but I would say its not a 2nd time watchable movie. It lacks storyline and acting but I'm eager to watch it again in 3D for which this has been meant for. I will give 4/5

i am not saying that no one liked it. i am saying that the hype is starting to die down. its a cartoon film with good special effects. its not a classic, it will never be.
classic is a forrest gump, green mile, godfather, pulp fiction, casino, saving private ryan & even titanic.
u get my point?
