MIscasting

Progeria children are on an average less than 4 feet tall. Here you have a 6.5 feet man, which is quite abnormal for a 13 year old, with or without Progeria. His make up make him look 80 year old though. Amitji is miscast and this role should have been great if done by someone like Amir or even Shahid Kapur, short and with a touch of boyshness.

the selling point of the film would have been lost.... with less budgets do u think AD corp could have afforded aamir or shahid ? even if they did, the promotion cost could have been much more....
like balki said the one point selling idea of paa was - amitabh playing abhishek's son....

however good film u make u have to draw people to the theatres right ?

Kamal is nothing but an overhyped gimmick promoted by the lungis since they are the most parochial and linguistic outcastes of the country . We all know about Kamal's dismal track record not just in INDIA but even in T.Nadu where Rajni is miles ahead. So just shut your mouth and hide it in a lungi.

just count the no. of national award win by kamal hasan . and u wil open ur mouth in wonder than shut.
its more than AB won . just search in google and update ur knwoledge.
No other actor in India won as much awards as dr.padmashree.bharat Kamal hasan won. AB nothing in front of kamal.

Earlier I had tried to conuter him, but always got no answer or debates from him. So this comment from my end.

dear sir

I am telling my points. u only see hindi films
but i see/undestand / enjoy atleast 4 lanugaes films equally in nos. so iam confident to comment who is best and who is not.
without seeing tamil films and malayalam class films how u dare to comment.

in popularity i agree AB is far ahead than Kamal or mohan lal. but thats not enough

If Ronaldo or Bekkam have more fans and popularity in world it does not mean they are great than Sachin or Lara

dear sen

good to hear u are aware all those great 4 actors in India have won natioanl awards equal times. that clearly shows AB , Mohan lal , mammotty and Kamal are way ahead of other bollywood stars.

among these 4 whos best , let fans beleive as they like. but even AB once said Mohan lal is best actor india ever produced. and AB and his son watch all Mohan lal films .

also i never told telugu or kanada films are good. i know its not. but tamil and malayalam really r class films and have soo many good actors. i see and understand atleast 4 lanugages films. so i can confidently say this
anyway since these 4 respects each other and are fan of each others why shud we fight in their names ,
its a good and healthy combitation between them . what u say

That is exactly my point.

You have hit the nail on the head for the first time.

My point is that whenever topic comes of Hindi films you always strat bragging that tamil, Telegu, malayalam and kannada films are better, actors are better etc. Don't you think that is out of the context and really not needed.

Why do you compare the two genres. They cannot be compared.

I have never stated that Mohanlal, or Mammotty or Kamal Hassan is bad, cos I am not educatedd about their films, apart from the hindi one's they have acted in.

But, u claim some of these to be better than Mr Bachchan which i will refute cos, none of them could attain anything whenever they did any Hindi film( Sanam teri kasam, KalaPani, etc). I agree Kamal hassan had a great performance in Sadma, but my point is that AB is the most complete most versatile actor. and without any debate the most popular.

Moreover, since you guys always vouch for national awards, there is not much of a differencei presume.

Mohanlal, mammooty and amitabh all have 3 each only kamal hassan has 4 ( 1 as a child artist).

So on what basis do you say that they are better?

You never know Mr Bachhan might just level with Kamal with PAA.

As far as any other recognition goes, he is miles ahead of others.

Hey Pradeep Man, why do you have to compare? You don't have to compare the Sun with the Moon. Both have their own importance in the Universe.

average movie overhyped !!
by WhySoSerious on Dec 16, 2009 02:10 PM  | Hide replies

movie is hyped with Amitabh plying 12 yr old...

actually they could take anybody for the role of auro...
why take amitabh and do make up for six hours...
there r lots of good lesser known actors around who would agree to shave off their hairs....

im not saying that movie was bad.. but if u take out the novelty factor of “AMITABH” playing the 12 yr old son of his real life son abhishek, then this is just another film…

with you AB not done anything special in this film.
infact in last 10-12 year AB has done only 2 good films . Black and Khakee. Rest all were 3rd class films.
even Paa was not bad i think Kamal hasan cud have done bettern than this.
kamal is more natural and talented actor than AB

Is there anything wrong if the man, even after having his share of being right at the top for decades, wtill gains the most attention from media.

What's wrong if he cashes on it? The man who has ruled the industry and has been voted the actor of the millenium ahead of Sir Charles Chaplin and Marlon Brando will obviously by default have the hype surrounding any film he makes.

Any one could have done the role, but instead of going into the ifs and buts, just see what kind of dedication, and commitment he still has at this age. He easily be less disciplined, less focussed, but he never gives anything short of 100%.

That is his dedication, as far as Mr. Niar goes, he has not seen films of this genius, otehrwise he would not just state Khakhee and Black.
Just to name a few, go and see The Last Lear or even Deewar( new one, cos he mentioned a time frame of 10-12 years), Eklavya, Nishhabdh, Sarkar, etc...

Beautiful movie
by Raj Ray on Dec 16, 2009 01:12 PM

Very touching. Beautifully scripted and executed.

Subtle points made all the difference - not lecturing us about how to raise a child, not delving into Progeria, not portraying a dysfunctional family (as is the norm in Bollywood), unity and understanding among the children (again not pedantic)...I could go on.

He told a good story, and he told it well. Plain and simple.

Keep making movies - and continue to keep them light hearted.
