Once upon a time, Kannada had the best films. They would win so many national awards. Who can forget Karnad, Karanth and Kasarvalli? Chomana Dudi, Kadu, Ghata Shradha, Vamsavriksha and Hamsageethe? Kannada movies were remade in all languages. Shankar Guru became Kumar Raja in Telugu, Trisoolam in Tamil and Mahaan in Hindi. Many Puttanna Kenegal movies were remade in other languages. So were movies that Rajkumar acted in. Kannada songs were copied in other South Indian languages. And all that sadly ended somewhere in the mid 80s with Remake Ravichandran leading the way and Hopeless Hamsalekha writing lyrics. Once in a while,a gem like Aa Dinagalu or Gulabi Talkies surfaces. Otherwise, Kannada movies have become as useless in value as the Tamil and Telugu movies are - just songs, dances and emotion that mean nothing.

With the rise of new directos like Yoghraaj Bhat, chandru,shashank, Agni Sridhar and Ratnaja and also music directors like Mano murthy,Manikanth kadri and raghu dixit, again the olden days are coming now.

Hi,
I have a same feeling about Ravichandran and Hamsalekha but couldn't back with solid proof. We lost the richness in language and culture by these two people. People with their ignorace has welcomed the change created by them. Apparently that change, looked deeply is a bolt to Kannada film industry.

Kannada film industry is the worst film industry in the whole world, they don't have any creativity, simply copying the story, music and the whole films from the languages like Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi and mixing up with vulgar scenes.
