Sallu shud have gone to US. SRK's attitude was the problem
by exoticbronze on Sep 01, 2009 06:51 AM

SRK was made to stand like a darban because of his attitude. Here in the US they dont care how big a star you are in Bollywood or Uganda for that matter. Just reply and co-operate with the immigration officers without doing any 'nakhras', and they will promptly process your papers/stamp your passport.

So many of my friends/co-workers keep visiting from India, Pakistan and other places...No one has any problems of harrasment by these same officers because of their religion.

The officers are doing their job, just answer their questions, without putting an attitude because she or he didnt recognize that u are a big star in your home country!!!

There are Nobel prize winners, olympic gold medallists (some with multiple gold medals), Kings, Ambassadors, Government officials...many of them visiting on non-diplomatic/personal capacities. Dont expect the US immigration officers to worship u just by one look at you.

Even Collin Powell was frisked when he WAS the SEcretary of sTate...Mr. Powell just joked about it! Al Gore was frisked on 2 different ocassions - once he was made to go through extensive security checks. I mean Al Gore is a former VP, a Nobel prize winner, academy Award winner for producing a movie (How many has SRK won?)...but Al Gore joked about it, didnt throw a tantrum (like "Abe, jaanta nahin kisse panga le raha hai. Teri yeh majaal?" etc).

Salman should have come to the US, and it would have opened the eyes of SRK and SRK's fans.

SRK in 50 most influential persons list - but still detained :)
by exoticbronze on Sep 01, 2009 06:32 AM

Very sad to see beloved SRK made to stand in line with illegal immigrants and questioned for 2 hours!

How good is being in the list of '50 most influential people in the world'...if it didnt let our dear SRK to get out of the US lockup?

Why was Mammootty treated with respect and courtesy by the New York immigration officers, who escorted Mammootty outside the airport to his car...after he politely asked them to check out his website and google his name to ascertain that he is the actor with the most number of National awards.

Why are south Indian muslim superstars treated with courtesy and respect by US immigration officers, while our 'Global Icons' of Bollywood are treated like illegals? This is not fair!

I though our 'Global Icons' of Bollywood were so popular in US that white girls would jump with autograph books and create traffic jams for SRK's attention...and that Drew Barrymore, Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston would wait outside the airport - Aarti, garland etc in hand, like Bollywood stars had done in Mumbai airport when Michael Jackson visited in the 90s...Sonali Bhendre was waiting to welcome with Aarti and phool mala, while other Bollywood 'Superstars' and politicians were falling over each other for the VVIP Michael Jackson.

Bollywood 'phillum magajheene' journalists like CineBlitz and Phillum Phare, had gone to Bal Thackray's house after MJ left and took pic/video of the bathroom where MJ urinated for Bolly fans!! I want US to respect SRK also!

After SRK episode
by Milind Sukhtankar on Aug 31, 2009 10:57 AM

srk must have been detained for the reasons best known to him and US authorities. but unfortunately sensing the reactions in India, he tried to convert himself in Indian celebrity. He also wanted concessions being so. Patriotism suddenly prevailed in him. This all was wrong and not expected of him. He must abide by the rules of any country. and not hesitate in cooperating their authorities. others going to US should not mind abide by with their formalities.

There is much more to this.....
by BR on Aug 31, 2009 01:43 AM

US not giving out visas, etc. There is much more going on that the SRK vs. Salman lovers/haters cannot see beyond. Recently there has been an impetus between CBI and Interpol working with the US Feds in getting all people "Wanted" being expatriated to India. We personally know one such man who seemingly thought was living in anonymity in the US. Alas the law catches up some day!

In the meantime, most everyone seems to be remaking 'New York' in different versions, in quick pickle making factories. The US is getting irritated by the focus laid by the movies on US' methods employed post 911. That's all it is. It is aphase. So stop pitting SRK and Salman against each other.
