SRK was detained because of his arrogance
by sam puzhakkal on Sep 01, 2009 11:53 AM  | Hide replies

SRK was made to stand like a darban because of his attitude. Here in the US they dont care how big a star you are in Bollywood or Uganda for that matter. Just reply and co-operate with the immigration officers without doing any 'nakhras', and they will promptly process your papers/stamp your passport.

So many of my friends/co-workers keep visiting from India, Pakistan and other places...No one has any problems of harrasment by these same officers because of their religion.

The officers are doing their job, just answer their questions, without putting an attitude because she or he didnt recognize that u are a big star in your home country!!!

There are Nobel prize winners, olympic gold medallists (some with multiple gold medals), Kings, Ambassadors, Government officials...many of them visiting on non-diplomatic/personal capacities. Dont expect the US immigration officers to worship u just by one look at you.

Even Collin Powell was frisked when he WAS the SEcretary of sTate...Mr. Powell just joked about it! Al Gore was frisked on 2 different ocassions - once he was made to go through extensive security checks. I mean Al Gore is a former VP, a Nobel prize winner, academy Award winner for producing a movie (How many has SRK won?)...but Al Gore joked about it, didnt throw a tantrum (like "Abe, jaanta nahin kisse panga le raha hai. Teri yeh majaal?" etc).

Salman should not have cancelled his trip to the US n wud be treated well. It wud open the eyes of SRK and SRK's fans.

very true
by lizy chacko on Aug 29, 2009 08:26 PM

This article is true...and i support it....i truly admire the security over there(US)...im sure for their own hollywood actors & actresses, they also must be going through all this security checks...so why to fuss about...SRK shud remember he is not GOD...a mortal being & shud respect the laws of every country he is visiting...Why are the Indian authorities taking this issue to the US so seriously... I hope they have enough brains left.....unlike our country, where every1 goes drooling over the filmstars, instead of doing their job.....If there wud be no security lapses and thorough checking at the airport,Im sure India wud also avoid such terrorist attacks(26/11 memories lingering in my mind.

Shame to SRK, for creating such a fuss over it....that shows how literate he is.....
Thumbs up to Mr.Kalam,Mamootty & Kamal Hassan.

Other filmstars were detained too
by Natarajan Nirmalkumar on Aug 22, 2009 01:45 AM

South Indian filmstars Kamal Hassan and Mamooty have also been detained before by US INS. They did not make a fuss about it and took it in their stride. They are no less super stars to their fans than SRK is. And when a great leader like Dr Kalam didn't complain, it's time that others woke up and realized that these checks are not directed against them or their image.

So much for publicity
by Anisha on Aug 21, 2009 07:23 PM

This is by far the cheapest publicity stunt i have seen(literally). So Mr. Khan was questioned for 1hr6min.He would have visited USA any no. of times from 2003 to 2009 and by his own admission he has been questioned before but what is different this time is that his movie titled 'My name is Khan'(interesting coincidence,no?) is set to release this year so all of a sudden he has woken up to realize that people with certain names are being discriminated against since 9/11(late realization did you say?). And boy! was he hurt. You can question anyone & everyone including Kalam but SRK! surely you dont expect him to go through security checks made for common people. Every nation has right to follow any legal procedure to ensure safety of its citizens and US follows strict security checks, it has every right to.As special as he thinks himself to be to think that he is above rules and regulations is a bit of stretch even for him. He could have downplayed the incident but for the publicity of his movie. I can only add that he has touched a new low with this very desperate publicity stunt.

No Smoke without Fire!!

Now where are those stupid politicians aka HM Chiddu, Shashi Tharoor, Ambika Soni, Rajiv Shukla etc. Not to forget the slaves of Saduk aka Priyanka Vadra Gandy & Rahul Chhotu Gandy!!
These are all publicity mongers & VIP treatment!!!
Security of common person, they care a damn about it!!
As they say, there is NO SMOKE without FIRE!!
Kudos to US!!
Shame on India and all Indians who supported this publicity gimmick!

Now that the real reasons behind this nincampoop SRK's detention have been revealed by the US authorities - his association with the show organizers who have direct link with the underworld.
My question to rediff is why is their no coverage / headline of this issue that exposes the nefarious activities of our media created superstars being in direct connivance with our country's enemies. How these scums acquire wealth , fame , fortune, accolades & awards, "VIP" status from our country only to backstab & weaken us .
When SRK raked this drama than the entire frontpage was covered with headlines on how he has been "mistreated" & not given VIP status like in India.
Now when the truth is out everything is swept under the carpet.
This is a real shame.
Those who keep on repeating mistakes & never learn deserve to suffer.
Therefore "Jaago India Jaago" before it is too late & we end up disentegrating into pieces courtesy our politicians, beuraucrats , wealthy HNI's & so called "superstars" like SRK

Thanks to Shah Rukh being detained.
No one realised that..
one more Independence day has gone by.
We still have a huge fiscal deficit.
We have pathetic infrastructure and health care facilities.
House hold items are exorbitantly priced.
Basic necessities are out of the common man's budget

And yeah the most important one. We have a Drought on our hands

well said mate.
only illiterate or semi-literate ppl idolize movie stars as heroes or gods. unfortunately, our country is full of ignorants and hypocrites. our leaders are corrupt and system is shallow.rich ppl makes law and bypass it and poor ppl fall victim of the "LAW". innocents r put through the misery and left 2 live on the edge. we have an illusion of being "emerging superpower" but reality states something else.

this idiot is not worth even mentioning on a great day like independence day but when you realize that ppl r more happy 2 be amused by bein gullible.

this so called HERO of bollywood left no stone unturned for the publicity of his film and himself (Argue: he doesnt need publicity;
well dear frnz even Michael jackson used 2 do publicity stunts, who is SRK????)
well all i can say is...

our country goin straight into the gutter.
