And still believe that it is as classic a movie as can be. Wonderful dialogues. Wonderful characters. Fine editing, and awesome camerawork. Thank heavens for a break from RGV camerawork.
The view from the grimy window towards the end of good-guy Shahid walking away with the loot on the tracks was like reading a page out of classic Dostoyevsky.
And songs were good. One thing to note was that the Dhaen Tanae song was full of moving camera, and did not focus on Shahid at all.
And what a piece of brilliance, almost like a Clint Eastwood Western scene, the 5 minute dialogue sparring between Michael and Bhau in bad-boy Shahid's hideout. That scene should get nominated for best scene ever.

why are u against Shahid Kapur, with Jab We Met and this movie, he has shown his range of talent & his great pankaj kapur genes. this was a very good job, one of the best double roles in recent times.

Almost forgot the character's name, Mikhail not Michael.
Several things to learn from VB's work. His use of Bengalis influenced by Russia, the Marathi bag guys who are also middle class, and hence have family values and sympathies was a complete departure from RGV's Sarkar's eliticism. There were a few goofs - en english toilet in a chawl system, and no lower middle class dud will take refuge in a oublic toilet, no no, not th eplace to go and rest one's brains. But I guess VB had no way to show how one can stomp out of one's one-room flat to get a breather from a pestering fiance somewhere just outside his flat.
Many positive things though - a woman strength when Priyanka beat up the guys , a inherently criminal MIkhail keeping his senses intact in face of danger even when dead drunk . But best of all the brotherhood and trust that MIkhail and bad-boy Shahid share.
I watched it last night. Grossly over rated is my sentiment. And my sis and BIL have already watched it twice... It takes all sorts to make this world...
The first half of the movie is kinda hollywood type...nice try to emulate direction from Firngis but then there are too many charecters in the movie and the director is unable to control them. there is a complete chaos!!! I still can not figure out what was happening in last 45 minutes!!wtf! that pissed me off. We can say Shahid is gradually evolving as an actor, rest everything in movie is shit!!! Sometime I ponder wtf these directors think !! Are we Bollocks or what!! Senseless, baseless and criminal waste of money and time ..... PS:In my survey only those people liked it who never witnessed good cinema.

Re: Rupesh bhau - bas karo!
by ABC XYZ on Aug 28, 2009 02:00 PM
I agree, Rupesh bhau shud name us some of the recent movies which he liked very much. Seen his strong dislike now let us also know his likings, taste and class.
This movie was trying to be a reality movie, and trying to entertain public without use of foul language, graphic sex or graphic violence and that is appreciable. People are so fed up with Bandit Queen type flim these days that even Kambaqt Ishq was hit because it was shamelessly just time pass and entrainment movie. In a globalise entrainment industry when people have same access to Hollywood movies as bollywood movies then why people should choose to see a side show, parody version of Hollywood. I think people around the world still choose to see bollywood movies even if the media scream day and night that its story/art/direction is inspired by Hollywood because they expect, that they can see the movie with family. Its branding as harmless family entrainment is being killed by people who are blindly trying to emulate Hollywood, in order to get some critic or international award. I think inspiration from Hollywood is not bad but people should know their market and work according to its expectations. People with family will only come around and give money to snake charmer, when they trust that snake charmer has taken off the venom of snake and its harmless. If someone want to take risk with dangerous snakes then in current market situation a person can easily go to jungle himself and do not need to waste time and money with snake charmer and his snake.
Kaminey is such an aggresively marketed that everyone felt that its one of the best movie.
I also fell prey to such misconception. But when i watched the movie it was so much below my expectations that i want my money back
I urge all the one's who have not seen this movie that please don't waste your time and money on this FLOP Meaningless Movie. Kaminey is utterly BORING MOVIE.

I think when Rupesh has gone to see this film in theatre, that time theatre's AC was not working, that's why he is too angry on this movie

Dear ABC Rupesh is right to a certain extent,my friend. This movie was soo much hyped by the critics, actors sayin"You need brains to understand this movie, etc etc".But frankly speaking the movie is just OK and deserved not more than 3 stars.Agreed on the acting side, there where good performances and songs where excellent, but the script could have been soo much better. The ending was disgusting, more like Priyadarshan type where evry1 comes to a same point and good over evil, really predictable and one doesnt need brains for such(Kaminey is no Donnie Darko).I like Vishal as a director, but feel he should have stuck to his method of Shakespear tragedies.
What a shit movie... Shahid who make his carrier by utilizing kareena's fame and recommendations. Otherwise he would have became another office office lol...

Is Office Office bad? More welcome program than all the bahus and all the yound brides. You are indirectly endorsing ridiculously rich and wasteful Indians?

It's not that i am endorsing ridiculously rich and wasteful Indians but using them for ur benefit is it right ? To achieve success using them is good ?
Fantastic! One of the most brilliant movies ever to come out of Bollywood.Of course, some people may get caught unawares since this movie, quite unlike usual bollywod staple, actually demands the audience to not leave their brains behind at home. Vishal Bharadwaj - we can't wait for your next! Fimply fuperb!
