Contrary to popular opinion! (2/2)

Saying that I would also like to mention that hypothetically Indian cinema could continue to be the way it is and not lose its audience, but if it wants to make a global impression it will have to change drastically. People will have to stop howling about why a 'for the Indian, by the Indian' movie did not win an Oscar. To me this is hypocrisy.

I myself am an aspiring filmmaker and tend to take my passion seriously. I am regular reader of your column and highly appreciate the work you are doing. I tend to agree on a lot things that with you have to say in a review.

Please don't be discouraged by angry, naive comments and continue the good work.

Good luck.

Hello Mr. Sen

It feels really weird to comment in this section because mostly everyone here seems to take great interest in bad mouthing and shouting obscenities at you instead of trying to understand the true meaning of cinema.

Reading most comments on your reviews frustrates me, so just wanted to let you know that I think that you are doing a great job. It is exciting to know that there are some critics who still take their jobs seriously by being frank and by not contributing in the appalling downfall in Indian cinema. I think movie makers, critics as well as the Indian public is responsible for this demise.

There is a big difference between entertainers and actors. Even a circus clown falls under the category of an entertainer but casting him in a movie to play a role which he has no talent for will be a stupid idea.

Unfortunately the Indian audience seems to enjoy entertainers more. Serious actors never seem make it big in this industry, hence leaving us with a bunch of 6 pack guys and a bunch of hot-bod girls with little or no talent trying to achieve the impossible . Unfortunately the world of acting requires a lot more than a good physique. The movie makers too seem to feed this lack of cinematic sense in the Indian audience with dim-wit actors and nonsense plots (not to mention the incompetence of some mainstream movie makers).

Raja, you want Indians to watch movies about American Teenage Angst ... what the f88k for? There is nothing even vaguely similar about what Indian teenagers experience and American teenagers experience ...maybe vaguely if you went to a school so far right of the right margin as you went. Come on Raja our sensibilities are so different from american sensibilities that Breakfast club would just not resonate with 99% of today's indian youth. And I need to kick ur rear for writing bad reviews about public enemies ... u dufus I don'[t know why I read ur reviews.

hey Raja, i got your back buddy.

@Sanath: Dude, wtf??? what world are you living in? teenage angst all around the world has one basic foundation: Hormones!! these lead to similar wants & desires and lack thereof results in "angst". The basic sensibilities are the same every where around the world..you would know that if your ars ever traveled outside the village pond you live in! A whole generation of us grew up identifying with Wonder Years, Home Alone, Archie! I hope kids these days never encounter your village pond sensibilities!
