The thing about this movie is - take any experience of your own life and you would surely find it somewhere in this movie too. A life cannot be rated good or bad - So this movie is above any rating. Anyways..shreas talpade is real talent. He should not try hard to suite the roles..instead the writer/directors need to think of complex roles to make use of him.
This film is surely the best film of 2008. If this film doesnt deserve a four star from the reviewer then I wonder what would! The reviewer wrote that the songs were not needed in this film, she is right in a way that barring certain few lines sung in the background [which definitely adds to the beauty and feelings in the particular scenes(moments)], no other songs were really needed in the plot, they were really decelerating the tempo. However, barring that there are no other flaws in the film that i can think of. Very few scenes are dragged far, but in which film would you not find such small mistakes(errors)! The compounder love story is also an essential part of the film, because the director wants to portray the various problems and religious taboos and faith in rural india. Remember that scene where a middle aged man asks mahadev to write 100 letters for him about getting a matka full of gold! And finally one last dissonance... this is Shreyas Talpade's best performance till date even surpassing IQBAL. Although I am not that educated on films like the reviewer but certainly her assessment was a bit harsh.. :)
Re: THE REVIEWER... TOO HARSH

Quite harsh, in fact! Rather than trying to find faults, reviews should be positive and viewers should be encouraged to go to the theater to watch films like WTS. Box Office results should boost filmmakers to keep making such movies. In fact, this is best watched on video - repeatedly. WTS is an ultimate de-stresser.
Regardless of who was the director/producer, I thought this movie was a refreshing break from the countless urban movies that focus around life in the metros and big cities. While it did depict certain social taboos that are very much in existence still today, like child marriage, remarriages, Panchayat politics, it portrayed them without being preachy.
Some of the songs were also very sweet and melodic. Overall, I would recommend this movie as a light comedy in a village setting. Its nice to see young actors wanting to do such movies that may not be marked as "cool" and "hip".
A satire well told, yet so subtle. What really amazes me are the performances. Its difficult to rate these actors, each and every one of them. Perfect delivery of dialogues, postures, attitude, timing...they give us the feel of rustic Indian, being urbanites themselves. Straight A's to the look and feel, acting, dialogues and that one scene where the rude gunda politician uses "thumbprint", as opposed to Munnibhai who actually uses signature. Only Benegal can deliver such subtle messages.

There was nothing pathbreaking abt the movie..i m sure it was inspired by some foreign movie based on rock stars..india DOESN'T HAVE ANY rock stars in real life like the ones shown in the movie..and there is no craze in our country for rock stars or rock music like what is shown in the movie..not even in urban places like Mumbai..
