Here is a honest review :-)
by Sameer Bhagwat on Oct 29, 2008 12:04 AM  | Hide replies

Animation – It would be wrong to compare the animation to that of complex animations by Pixar as this is a first big project for Bollywood. Nevertheless, I was impressed with the details given to each character.

2. Direction – Jugal Hansraj certainly did his homework in the direction department but same can’t be said about writing one which we’ll talk about later. His love for animated movies clearly shows in the movie.

3. Charlie Anna – The bad dog of the movie is the most likable character of the movie. The credit should be given to Javed Jaffrey for his mind blowing voice over.

4. Ending Credits – After a long time, I didn’t leave the cinema before watching the credits. It was a really nice effort from Jugal and it paid off. Do watch the credits even if you didn’t like the movie.

Story – Story is too simple and has nothing new to offer. Filled with clichs, references to other Yash Raj movies and stupid dialogues, story is the weakest point of the film.

2. Voice over by Saif Ali Khan – He was definitely not a right choice for the voice of Romeo. Ending each dialogue with “Guys” can be really irritating. Please don’t try to be cool using such words. You look like a wannabe.

3. South Indian accent of Charlie Anna – Javed did a good job playing the character but his dialogues can be difficult to comprehend for the kids. Sometimes, it was really difficult to understand what he was saying. More clarity

Pandavas (2000) is the first full length 3D animation Indian film
by Freddie Saldanha on Oct 27, 2008 02:33 PM  | Hide replies

Who are the producers trying to fool? Their claim is false. Raja Sen should get his film-gyan up to date. The very first full-length 3D animated Indian film was Pandavas, released in 2000. I think Penta Media had produced the film. Even last year there was a 3d animated film in Tamil on a social theme (see rediff for review).

Horrible waste of time
by Mehta Prashant on Oct 27, 2008 11:21 AM  | Hide replies

On Diwali - Indians would have expected a great movie release. Not an experiment. How come old player like Yash Raj Production forget the very basic of making movie - that there should be a good story line.

Voice over : Nothing new served - same old Shit of Javed - Anna's voice.

Animation : Female Dog was like an old lady with long white hair.

Music : Only one song is good to hear for the second time - rest is all crape.

Yash Raj - good effort but doing new thing does not mean forgetting old ones. Doing new thing is to built upon your existing experience and create new stuff.

Great movie
by Sameer Bhagwat on Oct 27, 2008 07:56 AM  | Hide replies

The audience must understand that the Budget for this movie is less than 100 times that of a Hollywood flick, so please give them some slack. A very Honest effort and great entertainment.

Well done India and Tata Elxsi - which is credited for doing the Animation.

first of all the directors in Mumbai donsnt want to come out of the same old love story. it is a movie for the kids, you should show some kind of adventure may with the dogs. but nooooo, they have to have 10 songs(not really has 10 songs) and of course one hero and on bad guy. Come on guys get out of the same love theam. Madagascar, ratatouille, Narnia. The Animation was MUCH better but the story is ..... crap

Great Show !
by Ashwin Rath on Oct 26, 2008 11:37 PM  | Hide replies

Ah.. finally bollywood animation comes of age.

Believe me the voice overs are awsome , and Mr Raja Sen , the idea behind the script IS to be cliched and thats what brings in the "comic" touch.

I would no doubt say that the song "So Right" is almost in the lines of "Tu hi meri shab hai","kya mujhe pyar hai" and 'Zara Se..." , only difference is ... it is not "inspired" from some song from the other side of the world.

This is an innocent and beautifully crafted animation... excellent job... i had gone to see "Heroes" but saw this instead.......

Oh and by the way Charlie Anna's angels .... "Silk Smitha","Nylonn Nandini" and "Polyester Padmini" Ha ha ha ROFL.....

Superb show....

big letdown...
by abhijit bhattacharyya on Oct 26, 2008 09:46 PM  | Hide replies

the problem with a movie like roadside romeo is that, audiences, having watched movies like ratatouillie and finding nemo, and very recently, wall e(thats the best of the lot)and also previous ones like lion king, are bound to compare them to its hollywood counterparts.these movies have depth, rich characterisation, and at the same time, are wonderful entertainers, that rr is bound to seem like the dead sea beside the pacific.even calling it a harmless entertaine would be an exaggeration of sorts, when compared to dreamworks hugely entertaining kung fu panda and disneys Horton Hears a Who!.so,a big thumbs down.one thing though, the animation is pretty good.

a real small and sweet entertainer after a long long time. Had a good time watching the movie.

Mr raja sen, it is easy to criticise , but learn to appreciate as well.. Jugal Hansraj has redeemed himself with this movie.. and I will not be surprised if this movie does well and delivers the first unqualified hit for yashraj films this year

I disagree with you. the movie even going by the advertisments is pathetic. the scenerary is inspired by Ratatouille and idea is all filmi. The YRF style reeks even thru the advts. Id hate to spend money to watch such mundane nonsense. I mean seriously dont YRF insults people by creating movies like these ?
