Sachin's legendary innings at Sharjah and the most famous Australia series where he tamed the best bowler of the era Shane Warne who was in his prime form. Every time he has come to the crease be it in 1992 or in 2008, be it Test or One day, half of India is under pressure and tension and the little man had taken up that pressure on his shoulders so well that he always gave his people more than what they expected. I havent seen Don Bradman, and even if I see him batting in his best of form it will always be Sachin who is the greates batsman ever to have walked on earth. I believe most people from my generation will agre to that.

Saurav coming down the track and bashing every Sreelankan bowler in his glorious world cup innings of 183. Nobody can stop him on his day, Once he is past 100 he is a treat to watch. A true 'Dada' with unquestionable authority. No Indian can or should not forget the picture of him swirling the shirt after winning the Natwest series final against England. That is how he lead the team, lead the nation, and laid the foundations for the modern era in Indian cricket. He is undoubtedly the best king who ever ruled us.

Rahul Dravid punching the air after his brilliant double centruy which won us the Adlide test and many such inningses. An irritated Allen Donald who was the fastest bowler of his time, looking at this Indian boy who just defended and put his super fast delivery at the crease itself. He has always been an irritation to all the renowne

Marvelous writing Raja
by Rahul Raghavan on Oct 23, 2008 08:01 PM

HI Raja,

I am a frequent reader of your articles in rediff. At times I love them and many a times I even feel irritated by seeing the way you bash up some poor movies and the related people :-) But whatever be the situation,I have always enjoyed the way you write. I always feel connected to them coz of the topics, be it cricket, movies, music, tv serials you always strike the right cord.
But today was exceptional and I couldnt resist myself from putting a mail into your inbox after reading the article about our Fantabulous 4.

I was in tears when I finished it. We can make an hours long video out of this article which can be broadcasted in ESPN/STAR sports for countless number of times, atleast till our generation who grew up watching these heroes vanish completely from the surface of earth. I suggest you do that :-)

We are a generation who were not born at the times of Bhagat Singh, Subhash Bose or Mahatma Gandi, neither we had any common aim like the freedom struggle. For us it was these few men and their brilliance which made us understand what a national unity means, what national pride is. We have praised them, shouted at them, hated them, loved them but we have never been without them.

Till date I have been an ardent fan of the Fab 4 and never thought about how it is going to be after they leave the arena. May be I never wanted to think in that direction or may be my thought process would not have worked without them being a part of it . But today after

Fantastic! Wonderfully written, enjoyed reading it thoroughly. I have always liked the way you write, your movie reviews made for fun reading. This one though, is in a different league.
