Indian cinema and literature

Commercial Indian directors have either largely ignored or failed to give a good treatment to stories in popular Indian society. Probably, Devdaas is an exception. anite@ is not literature but compared to treatment of Harry Potter or Narnia, mainstream Indian cinema has to grow up a lot.
..with best wishes for Hello!

racist nonsense

Racist movie based on a racist book! America bashing might be hip in India but its disgusting to learn that even God takes sides and preaches about how bad the Americans are! Without Americans there wouldn't be any call centres though, so it is hypocratic to shun them as business needs trust and goodwill from both parties.

its been a long time since they raked moolah @ the box office also..:D

Anyway studying in premier institutes & getting high profile jobs doesn't mean that you have good artistic sense...
Even chetan's books are more of popular fiction than literature...

Your characters appeal to the readers as you have represented the psychological trauma of young generations.
I would also like to mention here that the youngsters who have read your novels have also liked to read more serious philosophical literary versions like The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari & Kite Runner. I can establish this from the record books of our library which is being run by my wife in India. Is it possible for you to bring in Blake's Mysticism as your books do appear like Piper's song about a lamb. It is for the readers, sorry the so called great critics to discern it. "If Pope is not a poet where else do you find poetry" Johnson the lexicographer remarked about neo-classical poet once. If Chetan Bhagat does not belong to the great literary class of fiction writers where else you would find fictions in the world.
I do not know whether these ramblings of my thoughts would appeal to your heart or brains but definitely your books have inspired me to write.

Regards,
GAS

Sir,At the age of Two & Fifty your all three novels have inspired me. Other day when Salman silenced you to sit down and talk in Dus Ka Dam I was not taken aback. I remembered of a some one ten pointer at IIT. I do empathise with you Sir.Critics mention that you do not belong to the top elite literary class. I remember of literary criticism classes where we were taught of Renaissance, Classicism, Neo-classicism, Romanticism so forth & so on.They were different literary eras. The diastole & systole of heart pendulum keeps oscillating from one end to other end. These literary eras are reflection of the same. Milton & John Donne were replaced by Romantic poets like Wordsworth, Keats, Shelly & Byron. Do your critics understand this ? Irrespective of computers, Internet & other media entertainment channels millions of people have found time to read your books & entertain themselves. It proves your books have some genuine mettle worth reading. I have observed THREE UNITIES - Unity of time, place & action which I have rarely found in so- called great authors of this era. The diction is simple. The weaving of plots, prologues, epilogues, climaxes & anti climaxes are in accordance with the rules of fiction writing. I find meticulousness of an engineer & accuracy of mathematician in the meters of each chapter. Probably this factor has brought a sort of monotony in all the novels you have written & critics have not found research material in their brain to criticise.
