Passing away of the Doyen of Indian Television

I came to know of his death only recently.
Probably BR Chopra's greatest gift to India was his serial "Mahabharat". It not only served as a Standard introduction to Indian culture and ethos, but also an entertaining and high quality precendent of standard that can be achieved by chosing the right cast and direction. Indeed one set of Mahabharat is with me. May God bless him for the service he has done to the nation.

You realise his production and storytelling skills when you get to see how Ekta Kapoor has screwed the new Mahabharat.

Nobody can even get close to the Mahabharat BR Chopra made in 1988. The best story ever told in the most spellbounding manner.

I totally agree that the Mahabharat with the huge sets, extremely fabulous costumes , "Bhishma" pitamah; ekta kapoor does not come even a bit closer..

"MAHABHARATA was spellbounding on t.v., just loved it!"

Are you crazy?

It was a terribly made soap opera!

You could see a fiat or ambassador driving off in the background in many of the episodes "dramatic" scenes!

It had the production values of a well-financed Ram Lila production!!

Dear Guest, you are probably talking about Ramayan. OR you just love to critisize. It was indeed a very well made soap opera.
