One may or may not like dances & songs in movies. But I strongly feel it should be mandated by law or else toilets in theatres would be inadequated to cope up with the interission rush
I hope people read Night Shyamlan's interview where he said Hollywood is getting too smart for its own good. When you make realistic movies these days there are lot of rubbish depending on what life is. For example I saw "Boys dont cry". It was so bad I could not sit thru it and it was so violent. We need a good balance between reality and fantasy.Indian movies are getting better provided they cut some aerobic exercise kind of dancing. If they want to show dance let them show some real nice one which involves lot of skills.
Dance and Songs in the movies are the demands of average level audiance. Satyajit Ray, made lot of films even without a single songs. In real life nobody sings or dance in sad or happy mood. If somebody has to make realistic films, irrespective of money returns, then no need of this masalas in the films. In India, we miss best quality movies, because of demands and response of average level audiance.

Everything cannot be realistic in life. You have to get away from real hectic life sometime and pour yourself in some dance and music. Song and Dance in the movies represent's just that. They are for entertainment purpose.

Why don't you try and do something useful and creative with your time?? Instead of commenting on the 'naach' required in present day cinema, why not try to draw attention to the price of 'naan' nowadays and what can be done about it?
