the project cost of mahabharata is $ 70 million (Rs 280 crore) or is it $ 70 billion (Rs 2,80,000 crore). this much money is enough the buyout the richest man in the world and still be left with billions of dollars. i think rediff should check their facts first.
Entertainment itself when exceeds the required entertainment time for a person, becomes piracy. Reduces the Nation's productive manpower. Look at the everyday cricket match and think of those in the audiance working for the contries progress by engaging themselves in wealth producing activities like tilling and manufacturing. Cinemas and cricket matches does not produce wealth, but they shift wealth from many to a limited number of persons which is the reverse to a small group tilling and cultivating and the vast majority getting benefitted. If an author's story is copied there is copywriting violation. But no such violation for copying Ramayana or Mahabharatha. Strange is it not.
i protecting piracy is not possible now. only solution is that all actors & actress should come to Tv screen . on webmirchi.com i am watching almost aLL hit channels for free.
RE:lols! 70 billion movie! wow, is there a shred of commitment ...where's the stupid editor ?

Globalization has unwittingly forced a change in the manner in which this nation counts ! We have shifted from lacs and Crores to Millions and Billions ! Even Business magazines and newspapers regularly confuse this! Hope by the turn of the decade we become more proficient with the new numerical terminolgies !
Largest annual profit by a U.S. company in financial yr 2007 was $39.5 billion which is posted by Fortune topper Exxon... And richest man in world has around $45 billion...
Seems Mr Bedi is a true indian to spend $70 billion to create a movie on epic Mahabharat.

maybe even more than 500000. he can buy out the entire bollywood, and get the telewood, kollywood, mollywood, tollywood and all the woods out there.
why is he shouting so much for piracy when indian movies are made frame to frame copy of hollywood flicks. do they pay for copyrights?? music directors like Annu malik thrived solely on plagiarism in this industry and so are many other musicians and script writers. if hollywood conducts a study on this shameless plagiarism, they'll surely find loss of trillions of dollars to this date. and at last, cinema is made for people to see whether they pay for it or not.

This is so true... We have the guts to copy their material shamelessly, and then also have guts to go to them asking to do something about Piracy of our material, which we copied from them without informing!!! What an irony!!!!

completely agree with Amit. Why is Mr.Bobby Bedi not hauling up the 'chors' of Bollywood who rip off every second Hollywood / International film under the guise of 'inspiration'? Including some of the 'A' list film makers!
