u r right Mr.Balan...
Intelligent movies should be given tax-waiver by the Govt. otherwise people get habituated to watching dumb masala movies to which they keep their brains at home and go to the theater.
Not just the Govt., even young talented and daring producers and story-tellers can come up with very good scripts having a combination of entertainment and message..

We may lose good movie makers
by Jayaprakash Balan on Jun 19, 2008 12:09 PM

Its sad that due to lack of theatres availability, we may lose getting to see good intelligent movies from talented moviemakers. The only solution to this is the Govt. and film body needs to intervene and ensure that every district and small town theatres should keep one show everyday for screening such good movies. Theatre owners also needs to own a responsibility to encourage good movies. In turn may be the theatre owners can be compensated little by the Govt. by waiving of tax for such particular movies so that the ticket rates are also kept to bare minimum of Rs 30 - Rs 50 since good intelligent movies need to reach masses and poor people. Otherwise there will be no audience for such movies and such movies will have a silent death.
