Good entertainer
by raghu vishnu on Jun 21, 2008 11:47 AM

Good entertainer....usual type of masala tamil movie plus some techinical and make up effects.
7-8 unecessary charaters.Fletcher was the best. No extra efforts taken for acting. Most of the hard work is wasted on the carrying of the make up and linking the same into the script. Mallaika super. Kamal attempted the humour part through asin but it turned out crass and irritating. The nostalgia from teh 12 th century was great. All in all a usual masala tamil entertainer...with added effects.for people talkign about sense and senislibity...how many of the sueprhits movies across Hindi and tamil industry makes complete sense... ??then why blame dasvatharam alone

For once kamal has been honest. Its fact he hasnt done anything new in all his career. learn Kamal!! concentrate on ur acting rather than ur makeup. Being versatile doesnt mean donning different get-ups

I am non Tamil speaking guy. I wonder if hindi mvoie audiences have any right to crib and criticize this Tamil movie. Audiences who made movies like OSO/ Main Hoon Na/ Sarkar Raj / Partner / Jannat / DHOOM 2 as hits. Audiences / Masses make people like Imran hashmi surive for years in this industry by giving him hits after hits. Audiences that even made junk movie like Julie a semi hit. Those who think movie like Jhankar Beats was for elite south Bombay audience. Hindi movie superstart the Big B works for movies like RGV KI AAg / Nishabd / BOOM shamelessly purely for the sake of money.
Do hindi audience have the right to cricize Dasavathaaram? I don't know about other Tamil movies but atleast Dasavathaaram is better than the most of Hindi Movies made in Bollywood. No point in arguing about it for the sake of it.It is very easy to ridicule the efforts of others and pass smart comments.

Kamal thatha...
by K Chandru on Jun 19, 2008 05:18 PM  | Hide replies

This has nothing to do with the film. But I feel, it's an eyesore to watch the likes of Kamal, Rajini, Vijaykanth, Sarath Kumar, Satyaraj, etc., still doing hero's role, unsuccesfully covering their necks, avoiding closeups even during song sequences and acting opposite heroines half their age. The heroines look more like their daughters and not their partners. The situation is no better in other languages either. I'd prefer they doing roles to suit their age and impressing the viewers even in those roles. Like, Raj Kiran winning over Cheran by miles with his performance in a dad's role or, like our own Charu sir donning the role of a postman in `Thabarane Kathe' (`hope, I spelt the name right!)

I'm sure, many Kamal fans here may not share my views. But like others, he too can not hide his 50 age despite hi-fi makeup and the closeup scenes are sure going to be an eyesore with all those wrinkles on his face and neck. He sure is an excellent actor and no doubt, he can do justice even if he dons a role of an elder brother or a dad (to Asin or Mallika Sherawat).

Dasavathaaram is a disaster. It is an affront to the senses of Indians. Except perhaps for the Tsunami scene, nothing about the movie is worth writing about. To think, sell-out crowds are rushing to the movies is perhaps an indication that Indians are losing the sanity over movie madness. After seeing movies like Nayagan and Thevar Magan, for Kamal to act in a movie like Dasavathaaram is hugely disappointing. If the movie does succeed in the box office, the madness has perhaps already set-in

Where is Kamal Hasan the Actor !
by Gunda Maharaj on Jun 19, 2008 12:46 PM  | Hide replies

do not understand the language but watched the movie on CD. I have seen movies like appu raja, Pushpak,Ek Duje Ke Liye,Sagar, sadma, etc.
Where is the Kamal Hasan as above in Dasavathaaram. The movie is only commercial and could not see his acting at all. I thought of watchin the acting of great Kamal but was disappointed.
I do not want to hurt people's feeling, but I being great fan of Kamal's telent as actor was disappointed by the movie.

The KAMAL magic in Mayajaal

Dasavatharam- The Mayajaal magic

By Moviebuzz | Thursday, 19 June , 2008, 12:05

Mayajaal, the 10- screen multiplex on ECR near Chennai city is emerging as one of the biggest entertainment hubs in India.

The weekend box-office at the multiplex is huge, due to the large number of IT firms in and around OMR and ECR. Moreover, the cash rich businessmen, film personalities and expats live in this area.

Last week Mayajaal created a world record when it screened 48 shows of Kamal Hassan's Dasavatharam in its 10 screens per day during the weekend. It is a world record as no other multiplex in the world has screened so many shows of a single film a day.

The total net for Dasavatharam for three days (June 13 to 15), from 144 shows is a whopping Rs 26,74,000. The highest ever net for any film at Mayajaal, for the opening weekend.

South people do not see Hindi movies... I know they are fanatics. For god sake come out of Tamilnadu and see the world. Comparing to Hollywood movies, Bollywood is not good. But Bollywood has its own style.
Sout movies are good content wise, acting is good so as Bollywood movies. But the weird looking ugly faces are part of the movie.

My sincere request, do not look at Boolywood. Think big, look at Hollywood. Look at people in other countries. They are so clean. A weird moustache makes you more dirty, but south guys can never leave that. Our films gives a sense of ourselves to the whole world, do not make fun of it.

One friend told Nagarjuna is good looking... what a joke! I have seen one song in Youtube.. he was dancing like in "Opera"(street dancing with mask). It is miserable.

Just like Rajnikaant... the Desi Jackie Chan.. he had made fool of Indians.

You can not imagine what the world is thinking about Indians.. and it is also affect of Bollywood, South Movies and the dirtiness of South people. Please leave the moustache and have clean shave everyday.

Learn good things from other.. I know many will scold me.. truth is not resistible.

My dear friends,

I am not against south. Nor I belong to North. I am from Orissa. You may include me south or north.. I am cool.

Even north people are dirty, but it is more in south. I have seen both parts of India. Truly I do not like south movies, but I like Idli, saambar.. the real tasty. I go 10 km far to get the south indian foods.. you must be happy to know that.

Earlier I was not realizing how we look. But as I left India, I got the real picture of India. Believe me in India only people do not care about the looks, and remain dirty. And among Pakistan, Bangladesh, Srilanka india is little better... this is not my view.. it is world's view.
Do not judge urself being at India. Feel india coming out of it.
And to the most part of it, I realized the moustache.. which makes a man dirty. Tell me how many trim it eveyday?
But almost all guys in other countries do that...
Think deeply what I am saying. Moustache is just 1 example... and South movies has some crazy things.. that is another part... space is less I can not write everything...

FYI, Americans or Europeans don't care a bit about the looks of Indians as far as my experience goes...all they care about is skills of Indians...look at the indians working in silicon valley in US...most of them don't look good and come from lower middle class backgrounds..it is only because of their skills they are recognized there...and even as far as movies are concerned, foreigners tend to usually get attracted to original stuff from india...movies like pathar panchali highlighting the poor or Salaam Bombay got the accolades...foreigners are more interested in the original thing that india can give which is indian hindu spirituality...anyways for you south indians as a race look dirty, same can be said about americans who may not like the looks of north indians who may look weird and dirty to them..its all relative...btw for u what looks weird can look normal to south indians as they are used to seeing the people who look like them in the movies...so its a matter of subjective opinion...moustache is a part of indian culture...even many bollywood actors in the past had it..like anil kapoor, raj kapoor jackie shroff etc...it dosen't make a person look dirty..anyways its all part of a culture that u are comfortable with and ur opinions can vary based on it...there is no universal way to judge what is weird looking or what is clean...anyway beauty is only skin deep..just educating u if u are not aware of it...btw i myself like to see only hindi movies mostly but some south m

Shubranshu & Chaliya,
'weird looking ugly faces', 'south indians as a race look dirty'. By posting such sentences, you are degrading yourselves and not south Indians. Even many of us have travelled north, east and South India and we know the truth. I have seen people spitting pan everywhere including Museum, bath once in a week, make chappathis with dirty hands, talk with pan filled saliva dripping all over north, doing puja and spitting in Ganges, worshipping and urinating in Ganges. Can I give you more such instances?.

FYI, cleanliness does not lie in looks but in habits.

We are all ASHAMED that you are born in India. Its better you marry a 50-50 and goto pakistan or Afghanistan soon....so India will be happy.

I think you are comparing with the westerns look. Hey Idiot, you try to understand that India has its own culture. But is true that people from different countries are trying to imitate the westerns. Best example for that is Bollywood and you see many of them imitating the bollywood kind of culture. But the reality is totally different, India is full of poor people and dirty places (Bollywood movies do not show about poor, all of them are rich and dance in the streets of other countries).

Dear Mr.Subhransu! Our movies should reflect our society, our culture and what we truly are. Many south indian movies do that and so you find people who look like a common man. Though I do not want to critize Bollywood movies here, to get you out of your "ignorance", I have to tell you that Bollywood movies depict those people, culture and societies that form only 1% of the Indian population. All the Karan Johar films are made outside India - do you want to be proud of that? Salman Khan talks Hindi in English accent, should we feel great about it? I am not saying South Indian movies are great, but you have absolutely no right to talk about them in such a disrespectful manner, especially you are refering to the South Indian people. Every community has a different sensibility, taste and way of life - you have absolutely no right to disrespect that. Please be careful next time when you post anything on internet. Mind you...people may find your address and thrash you!

Since, you dont have moustache or pubic hair...its not your fault. I know you envy MEN since you aren't a complete man. Its ok, i can understand.
Its not a rule that you should have a moustache.....Transexuals can live freely in India. so i hope you are feeling comfortable in Orissa streets.

Yeah!!! BOLLYWOOD has its own style....what the heck...most the hindi movies are jus made for the NRI crowd and not for the people of INDIA...in K3g hrithik goes to do is MBS from his bunglow in ChandiniChowk and the first day he goes in a FERRARI eh?? When SRK leaves his house in INDIA the next scene we see him in a big bunglow in LONDON which is not at all realistic and imiginable...wow!!!! if people can become so rich with in minutes then all the INDIANS would have been rich...grow up kid...okie!! tell me the number of National Awards from Hindi and the rest of the regional languages from SOUTH....its obviously higher than that from Bollywood movies....

I guess Subhransu owns a razor/blade company which is running out of money. So inorder to make profit he is asking to shave the mush daily.. ha ha..You might have not visited all the parts of india and thats y u are complaining about the tidiness of south india. Well i dont want to add fuel to this fire but every one knowns where the asia's largest slum is.
U may think that south is dirty and u can argue that it is the truth but the truth is almost entire country of india is dirty and you cannot differentiate north and south in this regard. And you have mentioned about only south indian heroes . you are talking like as if north indian stars have made the north indian people brilliant. All films stars are here to give wholesome entertainment thats all . See the flaws within your place first before commenting on others.
