Great to know THE HAPPENING is doing well,I expected the worst reading some reviews here in London, but having watched the movie I can say its a much superior movie than some of the thrillers at the cinema these days. Yea Marky doesnt quite cut it as a college lecturer, but give him some time he'll soon win you over, over the course of the movie. Agreed, its probably not as scary as some of the previous Shyamalan movies, but its high on shock factor, there is one every 5 minutes...I still get creeps thinking of that old lady who goes nuts, its one of the most affecting scenes Ive seen in a while..I would recommend THE HAPPENING,just dont go expecting a high budget SFX movie..

Let me help you with your points.
1.It's upto UTV to decide whom to work with and whom not. After all what you should also remember is that Manoj is an Oscar nominated director.
2.The reason why you saw a mic on the screen is not because of the editing part. It is a problem with your so called Multiplex not adjusting the projector properly. Next time, try going to a local theater than a multiplex.
3.Concept was definitely good. What did u expect in the end btw??
If you did not like the movie, its better to keep your mouth shut and let others watch. There are people who will like it.

Not lived upto expectation
by vinit menon on Jun 16, 2008 03:32 PM  | Hide replies

well the movie was not as good as expected. well there are certain querys ...... why did the Actor and actress didnt die even they were exposed to nature.why was the scene killing two teenager include when it didnt make any sense in it. why was ending so boring as there was no scene to show the solution of the problem... only good part of the movie was that the Cinemotography was good and background score was excellent... otherwise the movie was not as good as the earlier films like6th Sense, signs and Unbreakable.

I am convinced that Indians living within Indian have much more refined taste than the NRIs. Have else would one explain their liking for a complete non actor and a non looker like Shah Rukh Khan. What's disturbing is that in spite of living in a cultured foreign destination, the NRIs project a complete lack of taste.

I think these guys are stupid & ignorant.Manoj's movies after Sixth sense were horrible & I regret watching them on the big screen. Even the Happening was so so though it had a lot of promise. Maybe these guys donot know that ADAG is entering Hollywood in a big way..they will know abt the power of Indians. Abt the Doc guy of Madhuri....Bandar kya jane nariyal ka bhau....

I am no phoren born Indian, but still I would like to add here that how many of us so called Indians know of our roots in Aryan or Dravidian cultures?
I would also like to ask a genuine question to all that is knowing about Bollywood or Indian movie stars the only way to love India?
India acc to me is a set of values which represent its underling culture...
I am not here to suport anyone, but the very same director who claims to not have seen Bollywood movies, is also living in a country like Amreeka with his parents, which I think he mentioned in the same interview and which is an absolute INDIAN way of living.

Why are you bothered about it? Is Amithab related to you by any chance? You talk as if though if Manoj had said yes that he knew these bollywood bigwigs, would you get your monthly salary. Grow up dude! Not everyone has to know anything and everything. If i had to ask you who is the Sheikh of Dubai, would you be able to answer? I bet you cant. So stop cribbing.
