We have come a long way from Ray to here. I hope Mr Chatterji does not jump on me since I mentioned Ray. I only meant it as one great period to another great period, as everything around us evolves and opens new vistas.

Sam Thomas,

Being a tamilian, I must let you know that you are being quite rude. This is exactly the problem with us Tamilians. We want our own country, our own boundaries, our own everything - only to fight with each other about some petty things once we have all that.

Now, Dasavatharam is an Indian Film first and a Tamil Film Next. You would be amazed to know how many people from different parts of the country have had to work day and night, sacrifice their social commitments and put in their sweat, blood and tears to come up with a movie like this. Also there are so many South Indians toiling to make Bollywood Movies the way they shape up. So let us start breaking boundaries and move into a world where everyone can learn to appreciate everyone else's efforts.

Jai Hind

Ashok

why cant do ur preaching to northies..
they give awards only for bollywood movies in IIFA
they send only flop bollywood movies for oscar nominations
Still they cant accept the success of sivaji, now when dasavatharam is praised by a hollywood technician u want
to tell this movie as an indian movie ??
BTW, change ur thinking as hindi is the national language.
hindi is just the official language of india. All central govt offices uses hindi. It dosent mean all the ppl in india
should talk hindi.
hindi is not originated in india. the persian
kings who ruled the whole of north india used to talk their language called khara boli, many north indian states used this khara boli
as their language, later after these muslim persian kings left india, this khara boli became hindi due our country's name hindustan.
Tamil is the ancient language originated in TN in 2nd century BC and ppl in TN still preserve that great language and we r proud
to say that anywhere.
Hindi is the official language of india, but tamil is the official language in Singapore, srilanka, mauritus and indian state Tamil nadu.

"I appreciate your thought. But it should reciprocated from other side also. Why not tell north indians to learn Tamil ana appreciate Tamil movies, after all we are indians. Then send me a mail explaining how much abuses, bruises you got.
Stop preaching first. I think you haven't come out your village. Come out and see the Bloody north indiasn atrocities in every walks of life."

My Reply:

My dear b_y,

It is always important not to get personal in an argument. The person who hurls personal abuses is the one that is losing the battle, in this case argument. There can only be one National Language and Hindi has been unanimously chosen as the National Language. I see no reason for an Indian in any part of the country to learn Tamil, as it would not be of any value to him globally/nationally. Likewise, though nobody has asked you to learn hindi, it is good to know the language at least giving it its due respect as a National Language. Let me give you an example: I was driving through a remote part in Punjab when I had to stop by the Dhaba. The Dhaba workers were illiterate but knew Punjabi and Hindi. And I could atleast manage to get my dinner with my knowledge of Hindi". I am also sure that a basic knowledge in Hindi goes a long way in communicating while working in northern parts of our country.

Try not to be dismissive, not to get personal. And I will sanely reply to any of your reactions. I do NOT need any of your attitude as I have my own.

P.S - I was pu

Hindi was never unanimously selected. It was just selected coz of North Indian politicians.

Hindi exists in abundance only in the Northern and to an extent in the western parts of India. Of the Hindi speaking states, Rajasthan & Haryana dont have any language to script. Hindi has been compelled as working language in the Eastern and Southern part of the country. If you decide to go for a referendum, then Hindi may have to bear the shame.

Moreover the hatred in East and south exists because, the languages such as Bengali, Tamil, Kannada, Tulu and a few others have a very very strong cultural background while Hindi is just relatively new and belongs to the Muslim rulers who ruined our culture and tradition.

What has happened to Sanskrit ? It has been retired to Universities and temples.

I would opine, Hindi has been burdened on all Indians. Rather than looking for one language glorification, its better to remain the way we have been for ages ... Unity in Diversity.

India is the only country in the world which can pride about so many religions, cultures, languages and cuisine.

respect all

Excuse me, hindi was chosen as "national language" has no factual basis. It exists only in your imaghination.get your basic facts right.

there are many people in TN who don't think any one language has to be a national language. there is nothing wrong in it.

so don't impose your pro hindi beliefs on us.there are many people who do not share it

second what i speak , what i eat etc is none of your damn business.its belongs to my private space.

as for what you get in punjab or whatever, i could not care less. Its an individual's choice.

that's precisely the problem.

just mind your own business. everything will be altire.

let indivduals learn whatever languages they feel is useful to them.life is simpler that way.

Satya S,

Again, getting personal only shows the world your uncultured, uncouth side in an argument.

"second what i speak , what i eat etc is none of your damn business.its belongs to my private space." - I completely understand. I do NOT remember mentioning that I care about what you eat, drink. And I DON'T EVEN INTEND TO. You could not care less for anything that happens around you. So don't.

"there are many people in TN who don't think any one language has to be a national language. there is nothing wrong in it." - If there had to be one language that is nationally accepted and understood by the whole of India, it has to be English. Hindi is a close second, which is probably why it IS the National Language. Oh of course, you do NOT care for the use of a silly language...

"so don't impose your pro hindi beliefs on us.there are many people who do not share it" - Sure, I realize that there are a quite a few "level-headed people" like you in here. I did not impose... In fact I did not even TRY

"just mind your own business. everything will be altire." - And I would like to invite you to do the same... Oh and please try to spell words correctly when you type.
