Saif first tasted success not in Hum Tum (2004) but in Dil Chahta Hai in 2001. Post this film, the entire perception of Saif being just a crap actor, changed.
Yeh Dillagi was the first hit movie for the saifu and khiladi kumar pair. Main khiladi tu anari came later. (for those who dnt remember---yeh dillagi had the hit song---- jab bhi koi ladki dekhu---ole ole...ole ole...)

Yeh Dillagi and MKTA released in the same year - 1994. YD was just an above average movie and not a hit. Even MKTA was a semi-hit. From final gross, MKTA had nearly double of YD.

i never said they released in different years, i just said YD released before MKTA, and though MKTA may have made more money than YD---in those times, hit status was decided by number of weeks a movie runs and box office collections came later. YD managed a good enough run of 15-20 weeks, and MKTA had a better opening and so went on to collect more than YD. otherwise, from i what i remember, MKTA lasted only 10-12 weeks. but i am not arguing----just clarifying.
When Akshay and Saif paired in Main Khiladi Tu Anari in the mid 90s Akshay was a more popular star and had an action image and Saif was raw and having a comedy image and since the story was such, the movie was entertaining. Now I think both of these stars have matured and acquired an image individually especially Saif who has grown up and got an allrounder image. So, I have a doubt whether their combination would be interesting and click. Their pair was atleast not interesting in Tashan.
