maybe guru dutt wanted his wife geeta dutt to 'adjust' with his extra marital affair with waheeda like many other producer/directors wives do ..........
Guru Dutt & Wahida Rahman were two co-stars paired together in the most of Guru Dutt films. It was but natural for Geeta Dutt who was legally married wife Of Guru Dutt to suspect their movements & closeness together and more so, when she was prompted & influenced by her friend like Smriti Biswas. Smriti Biswas had taught Geeta Dutt ways to test whether her suspicions were valid and, if possible, catch Guru Dutt red-handed. It was something unwarranted as both Guru Dutt & Wahida Rahman were famous cine stars and much matured persons. Where was the time with them to go for love-making when they remained awfully busy days & nights with their assignments? It was Smriti Biswas who mislead Geeta Dutt & poisoned her ears against the working relationship of Guru Dutt & Waheeda Rahman. Had it been so, Guru Dutt could have never concealed as he was such a thorough gentleman at all times wedded with his work!Geeta Dutt was sadly mistaken and had committed blunder by suspecting her husband & doing his character assassination who was very loyal & truthful to her in true sense. Sathya Sharan has done an excellent job of compiling a book on Guru Dutt as featured by Abrar Alvi that will give a close look & good understanding of many facets of legendary film director Guru Dutt's life. Guru Dutt was a versatile actor, director & producer-all combined in one and that was the feature of his towering personality. Guru Dutt was a prince among men. "Where was the time with them to go for love-making when they remained awfully busy days & nights with their assignments?" - Dev-Surayya, Raj-Nargis, Dilip-Vyjyaynthimala, Rajendra-Saira Banu were jobless when they got entanged in love? Bullshit!
i think , he was and is one of the best film makers of indian cinema of all times, for people who have seen all his films will realise the potential that man had in him, i hv seen kgaz ke phool quite a number of times and have failed to understand why it bombed in bo that time, probably it was made quite ahead of time, it gives goose pimples when u see the film. he was a master of the art. it is nice for someone to write a book on him it is a great tribute. one must remember that during this golden era the actors, directors, music sirectors, singers and et all were humble people giving 100% to the art, without any tantrums unlike today.they all worked in groups, the movies were good. we do miss them.
It always happens & very true in the case of most of ladies that they suffer with jealosy.Geeta Dutt was no exception. to it. Though, Guru Dutt had seen many ups & downs in his career but he will be remember

I feel its all for the sake of money. Nothing more than that. They just want to make money out of controversy.

you are waste of your parents energy. When they wasted time on you who wasnt even born, why does it matter to you if someone wants to spend time on dead. Do you even know who Guru Dutt was you moron !!

Because the past is a mirror to the future. Which is why people wrote about Lincoln, Gandhi...long after they died. Maybe you are too superficial to understand all that. Maybe you should instead concentrate on reading Bombay Times and watching Karan Johar movies..

for a person who died at age of 36 yrs gurudutt has given the best movies and can be considered classics. if poeple today feel it is a waste of time , one feels sorry for such people. all i can say mr ramesh pls see his films and then you comment. i think it is wonderful for the author to give us some insight to a collosus of indian cinema.
Gurudutt Padukone was not a Manglorean as is mentioned in the interview above. He was from South Kanara and was a Chitrapur Saraswat(like the actor Anant Nag, thespian Jaydev Hattangadi)

Honestly, I didn't know he was from Karnataka. It is really a pleasant surprise. Of course, Guru Dutt belongs to the whole of India.
