"In my next life, I want to curve figures and characters out of clay without being directed by someone on how to go about it."

- He must be wanting Demi Moore beside him!

You could not even describe the film properly which won Mr. Chatterjee the national award. It was not a Buddhadev Dasgupta film. The director of the movie was Suman Ghosh. Horrible!!

Soumitra

Soumitra had a long innings in Bengali cinema. Why he was not given award so long not even in Ray's films need to be debated. Here is an actor of simplicity, ( let me add another name Jaya Bhaduri too), versatility who never let donw a film, even if so-called jury had let him down.

Soumitra, well said. A national award calls for lobbyism. Jaya Bhaduri is sweet example of it.

Thn why does most of the films besides hindi films tht get selected to represnt india at oscars is tamil film, not malayalam films.

Why only from south india, tamil films reprsnt india at oscars? The most embarassing moment besides sending those melodramatic hindi films to oscars was tamil film jeans. Wht did jeans have to impress the juries?

It's easy to apply the same logic as you did w/90% of of jury members were tamilians whn jeans was chosen.

I liked soumitra chatterjee in all Ray's films, especially Devi. Devi is the best film of Ray too. Ya, there is lobby in national award, otherwise in my opinion Jaya Bhaduri still not got a national award. How come this happen when several non-performance artistes have got the award on merit of what? Well Jennifer is A-class actress she deserved the award compared to Rekha. Well, Soumitra should have got many national awards , he is better artiste compared to many national award winning actors from South and North.
