I am not normally given to hyperboles like best, greatest etc..but in the case of Gopi one has to but agree that he was right there..among the select few.
I can following only a bit of malayalam. Nowa a days I do not see Malayalam movies regularly (thanks to the Bollowoodisation prevelent there) but some old movies are gems..I remember a movie that had Gopi and Madhavi in the lead and he played a person who came back from the Gulf after losing his job...what a performance...it haunted me for several days together..
Gopi is one of the finest actors ever. He is among the very few Indian actors comparable to Hollywood greats such as Marlon Brando, Orson Welles and Tom Hanks. His method acting, his ability to enter a character and become the character is beyond comparison. It is sad to see him go. Actors like Mohanlal or the Hindi bufoons like the Khans and the Bachchans can never fill his shoes
he was one of my favourite actor.I was always fascinated by his way of actin(very unique style) ,great dialogue delivery.i think some of his best performances are kodiyettam yavanika akkare ormakkai kattathe kilikkudu revathikkoru pavakutti and many more
Even his performance as father of mani in Vasanthiyum ..... was extraordinary .remember the way he said the dialogue 'kazcha kittiyittenthakana ,collector aakana ?')
He will always be remembered for each and every role he played from Adoor's 'Kodiyettam' to Balachandra Menon's 'De Ingottu Nokkiye'. His acting was so natural. A big loss to Malayalam film industry.
Bharath Gopi will remain immortal in the minds of good movie lovers for ever. He will live through the magnificient characters he played in some brilliant movies of late 70s and 80s.Also his few appearances in Hindi were excellent.Good bye Gopi..we will miss you..
kairali tv is now showing kodiyettam movie what a perfomance gopi can't replace any one ....with few films he won international and national awards....great loss ...
to add, gopi could put life into many characters liket hose in Sandhya mayangum neram, ORMAKKAYI , AKKARE, PANCHDAVADIPPALAM , Aand the very recent RASATHANTRAM which lingers on. the loving dad that he played to perfection ...the chemistry or RASATHANTRAM between mohanlal and him was otustanding as they complemetned each other. ..,.heres to bharat gopi!
It is not surprising that Malayalam cinema is producing such great actors. When i think of Bharath Gopi it is definitely "Tabalist Ayyappan" in the movie Yavanika that comes to mind first. One of my all time favorite movies, i agree with the author that he did overshadow even Mammootty the police officer in it. When everyone thinks Gopi can only do such roles he comes up with a superb performance as the Idiotic Panchayat President in "Panchavadi Paalam".... Though he has not been active in Cinema because of health issues, this is a great loss to Cinema....
