Mr.Manish Gupta probably saw 'Zodiac' and got "inspired".
As far as Bollywood movies go 'extensive research' is a joke. There'll probably be an item number in a dance bar and a love interest and god knows what other rubbish.

As far as a celluloid venture goes this one will be a real ineteresting adventure. Serial killers and teir deeds get seldom reported. Most probably don't even get noticed. But an element of caution should be exercised while converting this real life story into a film. The director should be aware of the adverse impact of 'Natural Born Killers', a Hollywood Hit based on fiction but which ended up inspiring two couples to set out on a murderous spree copying pretty much what they saw in the film.

Don't worry dude..us Indians are not wild and freaky enough like the vulnerable youth in the US. Plus, such influences are more credible in the US due to the legality of firearms and easier availability of hardcore drugs in mainstream US. And finally, Natural Born Killers is a classic, the seeds of its screenplay sown by Tarrantino himself(though later disowned by him). However, you are right in the sense that Bollywood has not produced a decent, gripping serial killer movie in years(if ever). I'll be looking forward to it!!

Stoneman in calcutta committed about 2-3 murders(suppossedly)...it is widely believed by police that it was more of indiviual killing rather any serial killer...few guys must have copied bombay stoneman techniques

Kolkata "stone man" committed over six murders over a span of almost an year. Finally one bald headed insane person got caught under the suspicion of being the stone man. The image of that insane person was published on the newspaper widely. He was caught while holding a huge stone in his hand in the wee hours of the night around the area where most of the murders used to happen. Strangely after that the serial killings stopped. Explaining serial killings is difficult and many mysteries have remained unsolved like that of Jack the Ripper. But strangest was the case when one of my colleagues under a stressfull situation in project and life said that he was feeling like killing someone(no particular target) before killing himself. Strange. We animals are so strange.

Do a search for stoneman in wikipedia..some interesting info there. Somehow, putting in a url in comments classifies it as abuse. Thats just crazy!!
