A 2 wheeler rider cares about a lot more things than just the fuel mileage. For one, he cares about the life of his kid who stands (in a scooter) or sits (in a bike) in front of him. He cares about his wife who sits in the back seat. And then he also cares about his own life. Obviously 2 wheelers are so much more dangerous because the rider is open to accidents and head injuries.

He also inhales so much pollution being in the open. You are not the smartest of ppl around here are you??? Like hell they will choose the bajaj or yamaha designer bikes over getting to drive a car.

FOOL!

by Deepak on Jan 11, 2008 04:22 PM  | Hide replies

...Dutt was clearly impressed by the small car, and chose it over a Rs 4 crore car -- the Ambierod luxury car, which was launched at the Auto Expo, by his close friend and ace car designer Dilip Chhabria.

I wonder why he chose not to select his friend's car to gift to his friend.

Ha

BAD LUCK COMING FOR INDIA
by Amitabha Das on Jan 11, 2008 04:16 PM  | Hide replies

I know this message will be treated as possibly capitalist, but thats because most Indians don't want to face the truth. With this Nano, (and I am sure some more to follow), India will be a nightmare on road. The numer of cars onIndian roads will possibly increase 200% in next 5 years and no of road only increase 30% thus making traffic unbearable and much worse than the pathetic state it is already in. India already had a curse called 'Maruti' over 2 decades ago and Indian roads have not managed to cope with it even today. A car was supposed to be for previleged class, everywhere in the world. I spent the first 27 years of my life without a car, as I could not afford it. Now with Nano, the bike and scooter owners will also have a car each and what will happen to the condition of roads? The developed world is trying to move from cars to even bicycles wherever it is possible, to save fuel and enviroment... and India is marching ahead with the goal of having a 'common man's car'... Lets face it... a CAR was not meant for a COMMON MAN. One should grow into something and deserve to use it rather than buy it as a freebie...

Even middle class people buys NANO, they can not afford to use it for daily transport because of its mileage and increasing petrol prices. So no need to make huge cry of traffic jams because of NANO..

I fully endors your views, we need a common man's transport system with good quality public transport vehicles and not roads filled with cars standing for hours to get their way. No cars below 5 lakhs should be allowed to sell.

you are WRONG mr. capitalist
In delhi if you are owning a car and have to travel at least 40,km a day it will cost you anywhere between 80-100 rs per day maintenance costs which is still not affordable for a bike or a scooter user(at least 3-4000 Rs per month-you can also add to that car loan amount per month which will not be less than 2000 rs per month). it may be a family car which will not be used for daily commuting

Well said Mr Das, I fully agree with you.

Advanced has advanced in leaps and bounds since independence from the British but unfortunately, with the exception of the excellent railway network (largest in the world)India has a very long way to go in terms of road network. In India, the obvious biggest obstacle to achieving superiority in infrastructure on par with the western nations, is the political corruption.

Secondly, again due to insensitivity of the politicians, no research is ever undertaken for feasibility studies as regards construction of roads - arterial highways and smaller roads connecting the big cities to outback rural townships and their MAINTENANCE!!!

The western nations spend millions in research and studies before successfully developing infrastructure as soon as a given figure is achieved in population growth for a certain area, in either a major metropolis, smaller town or even the remotest district.

It is anybody's guess as to when India, the current leader in Information Technology and many other industries, will ever be up there among those countries who give top priority to infrastructure development.

At least, it appears to me that I will not live to see that day, as currently, steps in that direction are moving excruciating slow.
