I saw the movie after it has completed more than 50 days in the theatres. Radha Mohan is undoubtedly one of the ace directors of the Tamil industry. He is ably supported by Narayanan & Subramnyan the duo that has penned some brilliant dialogues. If at all there is any disappointment, it is Vidyasagar's music! A very laudable effort. Prakash Raj deserves all praise for coming forward to producing a film like this in an industry dominated by mediocrity
I saw 'Abhium Naanum' a few hours ago and I feel bad to say that it was a great disappointment, especially because the premise had so much potential.
Even as the movie begins, the loud BGM/song during the titles makes one squirm - it was inappropriate for the subject and the "production values" seemed second grade.
There were many such disappointments to follow, each time the movie started showing a bit of promise...
Come to think of it, the sentimentality, the innane comedy and dialogue, and often over-the-top performances (including Prakash) would have lent well to a Sun TV serial...and, in fact, on many occasions, the tacky BGM, the amateurish acting and comedy (Thalaivaasal Vijay, Mano Bala), and the slow pace of the second half did seem like a mega serial, moving at its own pace!
I would commend the attempt to try and capture a dad's emotions for her daughter, but due to inadequacies in the script and screenplay and Trisha's acting, one could never see the "other" side - that of the daughter. Many of the characters (including the Sikhs) were as thick as a card-board.
Also, it is about time Prakash Raj and Prithviraj stop giving funda to their audiences...it gets irritating!!!
Radha Mohan's success after Mozhi seems to have gone to his head. He needs to write tighter scripts and get off his pedestal and vainglory and prove that Mozhi was no flash-in-the-pan.
The movie is ok,but the biggest drawback is Trisha, she is not somebody with acting talents, she suits glam roles etc but definitly roles that need acting is lost on actresses like Trisha,or even the current lot of tamil heroines,WE NEED AN ACTRESS WHO CAN ACT LIKE Revathi IN HER HEY DAYS TO ptray such roles.

My .Anonymous...Out of 10 Bollowood movies which are releases except one or two ...all others are turning out to be utter craps..ok..Since u guys have funds..its cmg out technically good...Don't separate the industry based on South n north ok....since we south Indian technicians are there ...North Indian movies are getting wide recognition..mind it..If a stupid movie like Om Shanthi has become successfull..its solely coz of Sabu Cyril(Art Director-Kerala)...and Cameraman (Manikandan-T.N)...how many more good movies n behind technicians u need(who are from south)??...so stop this crap...Unfortunately or Fortunately Hindi has become our National Language n that is the sole reason why bollywood is being watched by many ppl...No other reason ...And its only u North Indians who separate South Indians...But we have never done such acts..Even now ..and in the Above movie ...Two songs are sung By Kailash n One By Sadana Sargam(WHo are from North)..So stop this biased talk...And try to act sensibly..Even the latest awaited movie Gajini is aTamil hit which is being remade ok..Impressed with the south indian actresses asin's acting Amir called her...thats the stuff we hold.
I had lot expectation for the movie..But after watching movie..loss the confidence with the director. Screenplay is not good..After interval is boring ..What trisha did in this movie.....I feel 10 years trisha got more chance to act....She should have come some more time in this movie...Congrats for prakashraj for taking these type of moveis..But the director slip down this time....................................Anotherone thing is "the man who is calling trisha as "Amma" is irrevalnt to the movie...plese cut those scens"...This is movie is not for bachelors

Maybe you are not happy coz of the Mozhi hangover. Abhiyum naanum is cute in it's own way. And the character who calls trisha as AMMA - an example that the father is ready to do anything and everything for his kid. And regarding Trisha's footage in the movie, I never saw Prakash sir or Trisha on screen. It was only Raghu and Abhi. Abhiyum Naanum is a gem. Pls don't miss. A tear or two assured.
Prakashraj deserves an award for this film. He has entertained us like never before... His performance was chanceless! I expected more from Trisha's role since the hype was that it was a role that every actress earns for. But it turned out to be almost yet another role for her (however with more focus on her character in the story and proceedings). Aishwarya was fantastic too and made great combination with Prakashraj. The guy who acted as Ravi Shastry brought the house down (he also acted in Radhamohan's Azhagiya Theeye where he was brilliant too). Music was disappointing, the cinematography was fresh and cool....
WATCH THE FILM WITH FAMILY. If you have elders, be rest assured that they will shed a tear or two (myself being 23 yrs old, I cried!). Its very emotional movie, and for those who are of that type, go for it!

Sudarsan, the guy who plays Ravi Shastry is a very talented actor by name Kumaravel groomed at the Koothupattarai in Chennai. He is a brilliant actor and is almost a permanent member of Radha Mohan unit. Prakash Raj desrves all praise for venturing into making such films in an industry dominated by medocrity
