I too saw the movie on Asianet, and it was clearly meant as a showoff. Its 'stuffed' with complex words to make it sound intelligent, but the movie actually just dug its own grave. I miss that era of Malayalam cinema when scripts were amazingly fresh and the directors could bring these rich stories onto the screen.
Yes, if u need to enjoy the film, you need to have a temperament. Otherwise you can easily come up with a sharp criticism like the one above, a review with a pre-occupied thought.
The way each actors enacted the role, the fluidity with which the movie goes forward, the pace it sets, dialog delivery, everything is fine. The way the dialogs are written takes the movie to an intellectually appealing state. Sometimes it may feel that each dialog is crafted with fine, well thought out words. Even the songs has got its own charm.
Lalettan as always done his duty to par perfection and with natural charm and all other, even the minor characters too did their job well. May be the only thing that it makes it a bit unrealistic would be the entry of 'souls'. It may seem unrealistic, but the whole story is set against such a new concept. And more over we know that there is no room for questions in cinema which is a beautiful way of story telling, like no questioning with stories.
The way in which the screen play is crafted might give it a purely intellectual or even 'award movie' title. Even the opening lines of the films appeal to a mind that is intellectuality or literally inclined. I am sure that this movie may not appeal to the masses , may be just because of its quality, a high grade of quality. Our minds have been conditioned with lots of below average movies. So it is no wonder that we cant appreciate a 'kind of' serious movie.
