Rediff, don't you have anything worthy to put to indian minds other than these pin up girls, sexiest actresses, bikini ware etc.? wake uo you media! Lead the younger generation to glory like what nadal does, Phelps does. Even Ethiopia wins couple of Gold medals, Sudan wins, several unknown countries win multiple medals. We, having over one billion, talking of unending culture, lead our youth to mental prostitution, perversion by asking these questions that Rediff aska now. What a shame.

Agreed this is indeed a useless thing to do. But people come here to rediff to relieve stress out of their lives, not to get encouraged to go and win gold medals for India. Wonder, if you'd actually ever tell your children to do anything other than pore over their school books.
And by the way, the youth aren't children.. they don't need to get carried away by rediff asking questions, there are several other reasons for that.. moreover hav u wondered the country Phelps hails from - America - what about the general tendency of the youth there? What about the kind of media exposure they get? But still there are people who go out there, do their stuff with proper dedication. Distraction is there everywhere, the question is who is mature enough to avoid it and move ahead in life. Get a life, loser !

If the children of other countries have dedication to soar over the others, why can't our children do the same? Do you really understand what we lack? It is people like you who give excuses of our non performance. Eventually you are the loser. In any country there are goods and bads. My question is why are we not performing? it is because we are trained well to find excuses. When one points out that the other is doing well in some field, immediately we strain ourselves to find what are the bad qualities of him instead of appreciating the good. Excuse oriented mentality which prohibits improvement.
